Jos Jullien
Joseph Victor Jullien, known as Jos Jullien (January 1877 in Tournon-sur-Rhône, Ardèche, France – May 22, 1956 in Joyeuse, Ardèche), is a French general practitioner, researcher, politician, prehistorian, painter-engraver and man of pen. He was the world reference for Brucellosis, a disabling disease that affected countries around the Mediterranean. He developed one of the first therapeutic treatments for this pathology and a medical device to relieve the respiratory symptoms of the patients: the SPIRO, in 1934. Tournon-sur-Rhône
Tournon-sur-Rhône (; oc, Tornon) is a commune in the Ardèche department in southern France. It is one of the most populous commune in the Ardèche department, after Annonay, Aubenas, and Guilherand-Granges. Geography It is located on the right bank of the river Rhône, in the Ardèche , opposite Tain-l'Hermitage, (which is located in the Drôme ) History Tournon had its own counts as early as the 9th century reign of Louis I. Biotherm is a French skin care company owned by L'Oréal under the Luxury Products division. Biotherm was acquired by L'Oréal in 1970. Biotherm originated from mineral water. In the early 20th century, the French doctor Jos Jullien discovered mineral thermal spring waters under Pyrenees mountain in the southern part of France which contained thermal plankton, supposedly a key to healthy skin and a potent skin rejuvenator. In 1952, intellectual property rights were acquired and he used it in skin care products. Thus, ''therm'' in ''Biotherm'' comes from ''thermal plankton'', an ingredient found in all Biotherm products. ''Bio'' comes from the profession of the founder ''biologist''.
