Julian Serrano
Julián Serrano is a Spanish chef who lives and works in the United States. He first gained attention in San Francisco and is now most active in Las Vegas. Biography Born in Madrid, he studied in Marbella. He worked in several restaurants, Caribbean cruise liners, Nashville and San Francisco before being hired at Masa's. He is executive chef of the restaurant Picasso in Las Vegas. Serrano also has a restaurant at Aria named after him serving tapas and other Spanish food, as well as molecular gastronomy. It was noted as one of ''Esquire Magazine's'' "20 Best New Restaurants in 2010". In April 2015, he opened Lago at the Bellagio. Serrano is a two-time winner of the James Beard Foundation Award (Best Chef Pacific 1998 & Best Chef Southwest 2002). Masa's Wine Bar & Kitchen
Masa's Wine Bar & Kitchen (also known as Masa's Restaurant or Masa's) was a new French restaurant located in San Francisco, California, in the United States. Background Masa's was opened in July 1983 by chef Masataka Kobayashi. The restaurant uses Masataka's nickname, Masa, for its title. Upon its opening, the restaurant had a six-month waiting list for reservations. Kobayashi was murdered in 1984, and sous-chef Bill Galloway ran the kitchen until Julian Serrano became executive chef. He was chef for 14 years. Ron Siegel then became executive chef, followed by Richard Reddington. In 2004, Gregory Short became executive chef. Alan Murray was master sommelier. Short left Masa's on February 16, 2013, and the restaurant closed, with intentions to re-open. The restaurant is currently a sports bar. Picasso is a two Michelin star restaurant run by chef Julian Serrano in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The name is derived from the artist Pablo Picasso and features the artist's paintings throughout the restaurant. James Beard Foundation Award
The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists in the United States. They are scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. Julian Serrano Tapas is a tapas restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. Owned by Julian Serrano, it's located inside the Aria Resort and Casino and is Serrano's second restaurant in Las Vegas after Picasso. History Julian Serrano wanted to open a Spanish-style restaurant for over a decade. In 2009, MGM Resorts International offered Serrano a contract to open a restaurant at the new Aria Resort and Casino. Serrano agreed to the restaurant contract as long as he could have a tapas restaurant. Serrano traveled to Spain to find a designer for the restaurant. The design firm Gente de Valor was selected.
