Julian Robert Lindsey
Major General Julian Robert Lindsey (March 16, 1871 – June 27, 1948) was a United States Army cavalry officer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He served in the China Relief Expedition, the Pancho Villa Expedition and commanded a regiment, and later a brigade, in World War I. Sergeant Alvin York, perhaps the most well known American soldier of World War I, also served in Lindsey's brigade. Military career Julian Lindsey was born on March 16, 1871, in Irwinton, Georgia. China Relief Expedition
The China Relief Expedition was an expedition in China undertaken by the United States Armed Forces to rescue United States citizens, European nationals, and other foreign nationals during the latter years of the Boxer Rebellion, which lasted from 1898 to 1901. The China Relief Expedition was part of a multi-national military effort known as the Eight-Nation Alliance to which the United States contributed troops between 1900 and 1901. Towards the close of the expedition, the focus shifted from rescuing non-combatants to suppressing the rebellion. By 1902, at least in the city of Peking, the Boxer Rebellion had been effectively controlled. Peter Weimer Davison (May 15, 1869 – February 12, 1920) was an American brigadier general during World War I. Brigadier General Robert Walter Mearns (July 16, 1866 – May 23, 1949) was a U.S. Army general during World War I. Early life and education Robert Walter Mearns was born on July 16, 1866, in Kemblesville, Pennsylvania, to Andrew James Mearns, a farmer, and Martha Kennedy Mearns. He attended the West Chester Normal School, then entered the United States Military Academy and graduated number sixty-one of sixty-two in the class of 1892, one of thirteen who took five years to complete the requirements. George Blakely
George Blakely (July 5, 1870 – November 16, 1965) was an army officer and an American Brigadier general active during World War I. Early life Blakely was born in Pennsylvania. In 1892 he graduated number four of sixty-two from the United States Military Academy. His younger brother, Charles School Blakely, was also a graduate of the United States Military Academy and later a general. Preston Brown (January 2, 1872 – June 30, 1948) was an American army officer who saw action with the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I. Louis Chapin Covell (June 22, 1875 – August 26, 1952) was a United States army officer and business. He served in the Spanish–American War and World War I, and later worked for several automotive companies, including General Motors. Early life Covell was born on June 22, 1875 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Elliot Franklin Covell and Laura (Chapin) Covell. Tracy Campbell Dickson (September 17, 1868 – May 17, 1936) was a United States Army officer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Biography Dickson was born in Independence, Iowa, on September 17, 1868. His father had served with the Ninth New York Cavalry during the American Civil War. General Charles Pelot Summerall (March 4, 1867 – May 14, 1955) was a senior United States Army officer. He commanded the 1st Infantry Division in World War I, was Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1926 to 1930, and was President of The Citadel between 1931 and 1953.
