Julia Shapiro (born 16 December 1984) is a former pair skater who competed for Russia and Israel. Early in her career, she represented Russia with Igor Petrov, Alexei Sokolov, and Dmitri Khromin. With Sokolov, she is the 2000 World Junior bronze medalist. The Israeli Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of Israel. Winners are given the title of National Champion. Over the years, the date of the competition has been moved for regional political reasons or for the lack of ice. Nationals are mostly held in the Canada Centre in Metulla. Skate Israel ( he, סקייט ישראל) was a senior-level international figure skating competition, held in Metulla, Israel. Medals were awarded in four disciplines: men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. First organized in 1995, Skate Israel was held annually through 2000. The 2002 competition was cancelled due to political uncertainty. The event returned in 2003 and was last held in 2005.
