Juana Fe
Juana Fe is a Chilean musical band that mixes popular Latin American rhythms such as salsa and cumbia with Jamaican ska. Alongside other New Chilean Cumbia bands such as La Mano Ajena, Tizana and Chico Trujillo, they form part of the new wave of Latin American fusion that became popular in the first decade of the 21st century. Juana Fe’s music is influenced by urban life and the political and social environment in Chile. History Juana Fe was formed in 2004 when fellow university students Juan Ayala, Jaime Concha and Gonzalo Ibáñez decided to dedicate themselves completely to music, living communally in a house in Barrio Brasil, and paying rent by selling soy hamburgers on the university circuit. They were soon joined by percussionists and Rodrigo Rojas on keyboards. Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury Festival (formally Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts and known colloquially as Glasto) is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place in Pilton, Somerset, England. The Olmué Festival ( es, Festival del Huaso de Olmué) is a music festival that has been held annually during the 3rd week of February in Olmué, Central Chile. Barrio Brasil
Barrio Brasil is a neighborhood of Santiago, Chile, located to the west of the city center in the commune of Santiago and to the east of Barrio Yungay. Barrio Brasil is close to the neighborhoods Dieciocho, Concha y Toro, Yungay, and República and lies immediately to the north of the Alameda. New Chilean Cumbia
The New Chilean Cumbia also known as New Chilean Cumbia Rock (Spanish: ''Nueva cumbia chilena'', ''Nueva cumbia rock chilena'') is a subgenre of cumbia music that originated in Chile in the early 2000s and that largely surfaced in mainstream media in 2009 and 2010. In contrast to older cumbias the lyrics of New Chilean Cumbia deals more with urban life and combines aspects of rock, hip hop and a wide variety of Latin American genres like Andean music, salsa, the son, reggae, boleros, ska, Latin-African music, diablada and even folklore from the Balkans, like the Klezmer, and Gipsy music. While the movement has various influences its roots lie in the Chilean cumbia tradition established by Orquesta Huambaly, Giolito y su Combo, Orquesta Cubanacán, La Sonora Palacios and Sonora de Tommy Rey, but in contrast to these bands the New Chilean Cumbia is aimed towards a younger public.
