Joseph C. Phillips
Joseph Connor Phillips (born January 17, 1962) is an American actor, writer, and conservative Christian commentator. He is best known for his role as Martin Kendall on the long-running NBC sitcom ''The Cosby Show'', and as Justus Ward on the soap opera ''General Hospital''. Career From 1989 to 1991, Phillips portrayed U.S. Navy Lieutenant Martin Kendall on the popular NBC sitcom, ''The Cosby Show''. He portrayed attorney Justus Ward on the ABC soap opera ''General Hospital'' from 1994 to 1998. Phillips was also a guest political commentator on ''News & Notes'' on most NPR radio stations between 2004 and 2009. Education and associations Phillips is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. A supporting actor is an actor who performs a role in a play or film below that of the leading actor(s), and above that of a bit part. In recognition of important nature of this work, the theater and film industries give separate awards to the best supporting actors and actresses. These range from minor roles to principal players and are often pivotal or vital to the story as in a best friend, love interest, sidekick (such as Robin in the Batman series), or antagonist (such as the villain). They are sometimes but not necessarily character roles. In earlier times, these could often be ethnic stereotypes. A supporting actor should usually not upstage the main actor or actress, but often do. Tavis Smiley (; born September 13, 1964) is an American talk show host and author. Smiley was born in Gulfport, Mississippi, and grew up in Bunker Hill, Indiana.
