Joseph Albert Pinard
Joseph-Albert Pinard (July 26, 1878 РFebruary 8, 1964) was an Ontario political figure. He represented Ottawa East provincially in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1914 to 1929; as a Liberal until October 1926 and then winning reelection as an Independent-Liberal in the December 1926 election. He represented Ottawa East federally in the House of Commons of Canada from 1936 to 1945 as a Liberal member but was defeated in 1945 and 1949 when he ran as an Independent Liberal. He was born in Embrun, Ontario, the son of Hercule Pinard and Sophie Bertrand, was educated at Acad̩mie De La Salle in Ottawa and became a fire insurance agent in Ottawa. In 1903, he married Parm̩lia Landreville. He served as a member of Ottawa city council. Pinard ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Commons in 1911. Franco-Ontarians (french: Franco-Ontariens or if female, sometimes known as ''Ontarois'' and ''Ontaroises'') are Francophone Canadians that reside in the province of Ontario. Most are French Canadians from Ontario. In 2016, the Government of Ontario calculated that there are approximately 622,415 francophones residing in the province. The majority of Franco-Ontarians in the province reside in Eastern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Central Ontario, although small francophone communities may be found in other regions of the province. Edgar-Rodolphe-Eug̬ne Chevrier (October 5, 1887 РAugust 26, 1956) was a Canadian lawyer, judge and political figure. He represented City of Ottawa in the House of Commons of Canada from 1921 to 1935 and Ottawa East from 1935 to 1936 as a Liberal member. Biography He was born in Ottawa, Ontario in 1887, the son of Eugene Louis Chevrier and Delia St-Jacques. Chevrier was educated at the University of Ottawa and Osgoode Hall. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1912 and the Quebec bar in 1914. In 1914, he married Eug̩nie, the daughter of Charles Champagne. After the death of his first wife, Chevrier married Juliette Nantel in 1918. They had three daughters: Regine, Louise and Marie-Helene. He was named a King's Counsel in Quebec in 1928. Chevrier resigned his seat in 1936 when he was named to the High Court of Justice division of the Supreme Court of Ontario. In 1953, he was named to the Court of Appeal for Ontario. École secondaire publique De La Salle is a French public junior high and high school in Lowertown Ottawa, Ontario under the CÉPEO (Conseil des Écoles Publiques de l'Est de l'Ontario). Ottawa East (provincial Electoral District)
Old Ottawa East or just Ottawa East (''Vieil Ottawa Est'' in French) is a neighbourhood in Capital Ward in central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located south of Nicholas Street and between the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River, with Avenue Road marking the southern border. To the south is the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa South and to the northeast is Sandy Hill. Old Ottawa East includes the Lees Avenue area. The Flora Footbridge, which opened to pedestrians in 2019, connects the community to The Glebe. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the neighbourhood was 7,279. This small neighbourhood was originally the suburban community of Archville that was incorporated as the village of Ottawa East in 1888. In 1907 it was amalgamated with the growing community of Ottawa. Embrun (ˈɛmbrən in English; ), is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario in the Eastern Ontario region. Embrun is also part of the National Capital Region. Embrun is part of the larger Russell Township in Prescott and Russell United Counties. In 2011 (the year of the most recent census), the urban area of Embrun had a total population of 6,380, but if surrounding agricultural areas closely tied to the community are included, the population figure rises to 8,669. This makes Embrun the largest community in the Township of Russell. Embrun has grown rapidly in recent years. The population of Embrun surged nearly 25 per cent to 8,680 between 2016 and 2021, while nearby Russell expanded by 22 per cent to 6,135.
