Joosep Saat
Joosep Saat (30 July 1900 Tupenurme – 16 January 1977 Tallinn) was an Estonian communist politician, journalist and academic. Since 1921 he was a member of Communist Party of Estonia. In 1924 he was one of defendants of Trial of the 149, and the verdict was "forced labour for life". In 1938 he received amnesty. From 1949 to 1956 he was the executive director of Institute of Party History of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Estonia. From 1955 to 1959 he was the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. Joosep Toome
Joosep Toome (born 21 June 1985) is an Estonian basketball coach and former professional player who is currently an assistant coach for University of Tartu of the Korvpalli Meistriliiga. Standing at 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in), he played at the center position. He also represented the Estonian national basketball team internationally. Professional career Toome began playing basketball with Kalevi Pojad junior team and TTÜ. He began his professional career in 2005 with Kalev of the Korvpalli Meistriliiga. Kalev finished the 2005–06 season winning the Estonian Championship, after a 4–3 series win in the KML finals against University of Tartu. In 2008, Toome left Kalev and transferred to TTÜ. PK (born on 3 July 1989 as Joosep Vau) is known as one of the most diverse artists in Estonia and the founder of the "Parema Elu Nimel" movement, which advocates the right to spiritual freedom without prejudice regardless of personal status or interests. Since 2020 PK has created music bilingually in both English and Estonian. He has been active since 2004 but was on a brief hiatus for a period due to a health condition he suffered in 2007. He has since then appeared in both national and foreign media talking about its effects on his life and how music has helped him restart. Early years in music, MC Battles PK started his career in music as a battlerapper. Oskar Luts
Oskar Luts ( – 23 March 1953) was an Estonian writer and playwright. Biography Oskar Luts was born into a middle-class family in Järvepera, central Estonia, at that time in the governorate of Livonia (Russian Empire). His younger brother was the film director and cinematographer Theodor Luts. He attended Änkküla village school in 1894. He went to Palamuse Parish parish school in Jõgeva County, attending from 1895–1899. From 1899–1902 he studied at the Tartu Reaalkool. In 1903 Luts started working as an apothecary apprentice in Tartu and Narva. After passing the apothecary apprentice exams, he went to work in Tallinn (1903). During his military service in Saint Petersburg (1909–1911) he also worked in the apothecary field. He continued this work in Dorpat while studying pharmacy at university. ''Spring'' ( et, Kevade) is a 1969 Estonian film directed by Arvo Kruusement and is a film adaptation of Oskar Luts' popular novel of the same name. The movie placed first place in the Estonian feature films top ten poll held in 2002 by Estonian film critics and journalists. In 1970 the movie sold 558,000 tickets in Estonia, then nearly half of the country's total population of 1.36 million and 8,100,000 in the Soviet Union in 1971. The film was re-released in Estonia on 13 April 2006. The film was shot in Palamuse, which was the prototype area of Oskar Luts' "Paunvere". ''The Class'' ( et, Klass) is a 2007 Estonian drama film directed by Ilmar Raag. Themed on school violence, it was released on March 16, 2007. A 7 episode series was later produced, telling what happens after the initial movie. The series was called ''Class: Life After'' ( et, Klass: Elu pärast, which can also be translated as "Class: For Life").
