John Of Naples (died C. 1350)
John of Naples ( it, Giovanni di Napoli, la, Johannes de Neapoli), also known as Giovanni Regina, was a Dominican friar and prominent Thomist theologian and philosopher in the early 14th century. Life John was born at Naples in the second half of the 13th century. Nothing is known of his family background. He studied theology at the Dominican seminary in Bologna. From 1309, he studied at the University of Paris. He received a Master of Theology, master's degree in theology in 1315. He taught at Paris from 1315 until 1317. In 1317, he moved to the Dominican school of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples, where he became a professor in 1319. John advocated for the canonization of Thomas Aquinas. On 1 August 1319, he testified in Aquinas's first canonization process in Avignon Papacy, Avignon. In 1322, he replaced Guglielmo da Tocco (died 1323), Guglielmo da Tocco as procurator of the second process. The Order of Preachers ( la, Ordo Praedicatorum) abbreviated OP, also known as the Dominicans, is a Catholic mendicant order of Pontifical Right for men founded in Toulouse, France, by the Spanish priest, saint and mystic Dominic of Caleruega. Joan I Of Naples
Joanna I, also known as Johanna I ( it, Giovanna I; December 1325 – 27 July 1382), was Queen of Naples, and Countess of Provence and Forcalquier from 1343 to 1382; she was also Princess of Achaea from 1373 to 1381. Joanna was the eldest daughter of Charles, Duke of Calabria and Marie of Valois to survive infancy. Her father was the son of Robert the Wise, King of Naples, but he died before his father in 1328. Three years later, King Robert appointed Joanna as his heir and ordered his vassals to swear fealty to her. To strengthen Joanna's position, he concluded an agreement with his nephew, King Charles I of Hungary, about the marriage of Charles's younger son, Andrew, and Joanna. Peter Paludanus (Petrus de Palude) (c. 1275–1342) was a French theologian and archbishop. Biography Paludanus was born in the County of Bresse, Savoy, about 1275. He entered the Dominican Order at Lyon, completed his theological studies at the University of Paris, and was made a Doctor and Master of Theology in 1314. Wishing to devote his life to teaching and writing, he avoided all offices of honour in the order, except those pertaining to the direction of studies. Twice, however, he was sent as definitor from the Province of France to the General Chapter.
