John Oballa Owaa
John Oballa Owaa (born 28 August 1958, Ahero, Nyando District, Kenya) is the bishop of Ngong Diocese in Kenya - consecrated 2012 April, 14 in Ngong. His principal consecrator was John Cardinal Njue. He was appointed the bishop of Ngong Diocese on by Pope Benedict XVI on 7 January 2012. The Diocese of Ngong remained vacant with the resignation of Bishop Cornelius Schilder, M.H.M. in August 2009. John did his 'O' levels at St. Peter's Minor Seminary in Mukumu and then did his 'A' levels at Tindinyo College, which has since been turned to a major seminary and theological. He attended St. Augustine Senior Seminary, Mabanga, from 1980 to 1982, and proceeded to St. Thomas Aquinas National Seminary in Nairobi. On 28 August 1986, his 28th birthday, he was incardinated and ordained a priest for Kisumu (Arch-Diocese), Kenya. Fr. Ahero is a town in the city of Kisumu, the third largest city in Kenya. It is an agriculture town in Kenya that is part of Kisumu County. The town has a retail market serving as a main trading center for food and goods coming from Kisii, Homabay, and Nandi. Nyando District
Nyando district was a former district in Kenya which broke away from Kisumu District in Nyanza Province in 1998. Nyando district bordered the Rift Valley Province. The district is named after the Nyando River. Its capital was a small town called Awasi, located 30 kilometres east of the Kisumu. Other towns and villages in the district included Muhoroni, Chemelil, Ahero, Miwani, Koru, Kibigori, and Fort Ternan. In 2010, the district was eliminated and merged into Kisumu County. John Cardinal Njue
John Njue (born 1944) is a Kenyan Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was the fourth Archbishop of Nairobi from 2007 to 2021. He previously served as Coadjutor Archbishop of Nyeri from 2002 to 2007 and Bishop of Embu from 1986 to 2002. He was elevated to the rank of cardinal in 2007. Biography Njue was born in Embu, Kenya, in 1944 to Joseph Nyanga Kibariki and Monica Ngina Nyaga. He was baptized in 1948, and entered the minor seminary in Nkubu in 1962. From 1967 to 1974, he furthered his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Urbaniana University (where he obtained a licentiate in philosophy) and Pontifical Lateran University (licentiate in pastoral theology). Cornelius "Cor" Schilder, M.H.M. (born 19 September 1941) is an emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop from the Netherlands. He was the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ngong in Kenya from 2003 to 2009. Biography Cornelius Schilder was born on 19 September 1941 in Westwoud in the Netherlands. He studied philosophy at Mill Hill College in Roosendaal, and later theology at Mill Hill College in London, England. On 29 June 1968, he was ordained as priest in Westwoud. In 1971, he went to Kenya with the Mill Hill Missionaries and worked in the dioceses Ngong and Garissa. In 2002, he was appointed Bishop of Ngong after Colin Cameron Davies retired. On 25 January 2003 he was consecrated as bishop. In 2009, he retired "due to health problem".
