John Jasinski (politician)
John R. Jasinski ( ; born June 24, 1966) is an American politician and member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 24 in southeastern Minnesota. Early life, education, and career Jasinski was born on June 24, 1966, and raised in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and Minnesota State University, Mankato. Jasinski was in the Navy for four years. He was previously a member of the Faribault Planning Commission, the Faribault Economic Development Authority, and the Faribault City Council from 1996 to 1998. Jasinski was the mayor of Faribault from 2008 to 2016 and is a real estate broker at MDC Real Estate Services in Faribault. Vicki Jensen
Vicki Jensen (born 1965) is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, she represented District 24 in southeastern Minnesota. Education and early career Jensen attended South Central Technical College. She served on the Owatonna School Board. She and her husband own an independent insurance agency in Owatonna. Minnesota Senate Jensen was first elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012. She lost re-election to Republican John Jasinski in 2016. Jensen sought the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat for Minnesota's 1st congressional district in the 2018 election, but later dropped out of the race. The 2016 Minnesota Senate election was held in the U.S. state of Minnesota on November 8, 2016, to elect members to the Senate of the 90th and 91st Minnesota Legislatures. A primary election was held in several districts on August 9, 2016. The election coincided with the election of the other house of the Legislature, the House of Representatives. The Republican Party of Minnesota won a majority of seats, defeating the majority of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). This was the first election for the DFL since it won a majority of seats in the 2012 election, after losing a majority to the Republicans in the 2010 election. Faribault, Minnesota
Faribault ( ) is a city in, and the county seat of, Rice County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 23,352 at the 2010 census. Faribault is approximately south of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. Interstate 35 and Minnesota State Highways 3, 21, and 60 are four of Faribault's main routes. Faribault is situated at the confluence of the Cannon and Straight Rivers in southern Minnesota. History Faribault is regarded as one of the most historic communities in Minnesota, with settlement and commercial activity predating Minnesota's establishment as a U.S. Territory.
