John Blythe (October 4, 1849 – ?) was an Ontario farmer and political figure. He represented Grey South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1883 to 1890 as a Conservative member. James Hill Hunter (July 26, 1839 – February 2, 1891) was an Ontario merchant and political figure. He represented Grey South in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal from 1875 to 1883 and from 1890 to 1891. He was born in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1839, the son of Archibald Hunter and Elizabeth Hill, came to Canada West with his family in 1842 and was educated at Goderich and Upper Canada College. Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly east of Kitchener and west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. It is the seat of Wellington County, but is politically independent of it. The Province of Canada (or the United Province of Canada or the United Canadas) was a British colony in North America from 1841 to 1867. Its formation reflected recommendations made by John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham, in the Report on the Affairs of British North America following the Rebellions of 1837–1838. Grey South
Grey South was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1876 to 1917. It was located in the province of Ontario. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867 which divided the County of Grey into two ridings: Grey South and Grey North. The South Riding consisted of the Townships of Bentinck, Glenelg, Artemesia, Osprey, Normanby, Egremont, Proton and Melancthon. In 1872, the County of Grey was divided into three ridings when Grey East was created. The townships of Artemesia, Osprey, Proton and Melancthon were excluded from the south riding. In 1882, the township of Artemesia and the town of Durham were incorporated into the riding. In 1903, the township of Sullivan and the village of Hanover were incorporated into the riding.
