John Alexander Stewart, (1867 – October 7, 1922) was a Canadian politician. Born in Renfrew, Ontario, he was a lawyer before being elected to the House of Commons of Canada for the Ontario riding of Lanark. Renfrew is a town on the Bonnechere River in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. Located one hour west of Ottawa in Eastern Ontario, Renfrew is the fourth largest town in the county after Petawawa, Pembroke, Ontario, Pembroke and Arnprior. The town is a small transportation hub connecting Ontario Highway 60, Highway 60 and Ontario Highway 132, Highway 132 with the Trans-Canada Highway. Lanark (electoral District)
Lanark was a federal electoral district represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1917 to 1968. It was located in the province of Ontario. This riding was first created in 1914 from Lanark North and Lanark South ridings. It consisted of the county of Lanark. The electoral district was abolished in 1966 when it was redistributed between Frontenac—Lennox and Addington and Lanark and Renfrew ridings.
