Johan Sara
Johan Sara Jr. born 1963 is a Sami musician (guitar and yoik) and a central Sami composer, producer, teacher, arranger, actor and performer of contemporary music with roots in the Sami tradition. Career Sara Jr. was born and raised in Alta, and studied classical guitar at the Music Conservatory in Tromsø, as well as music pedagogics. He taught music at the Sami University College in Kautokeino. Sara jr. is the leader of Johan Sara Jr. Group, who released ' (1995). With a new line up (Geir Lysne wind instruments, Knut Aalefjær drums, Erik Halvorsen keyboards) came the release ''Boska'' (2003), with a musical expression described as punk-joik-jazz. The next album is called ''Orvoš'' (2009) with the J. S. Jr. Group. The orchestra has an extensive list of international touring. Kjell Samkopf (born 6 April 1952, in Bærum, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (drums) and composer, married 1993 to the dancer Mona Walderhaug (born 21 December 1956). Biography Samkopf is a central figure on the Norwegian contemporary music scene, with a varied career as a composer, musician and educator and had an extensive background from various music genres. He was for many years associated with the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he attended the diploma program in composition in 1973 without any formal musical education. Here he worked as a musical teacher from 1979 and later as professor and head of the percussion department. From the mid 1970s he was an active performer as drummer and he stepped in as timpanist in Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (1974–75). Nils Petter Molvær () also known as NPM (born 18 September 1960) is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter, composer, and record producer. He is considered a pioneer of future jazz, a genre that fuses jazz and electronic music, best showcased on his most commercially successful album, '' Khmer''. Biography Molvær was born and raised on the island of Sula, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, and left at age nineteen to study on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1980–82). Frode Fjellheim
Frode Fjellheim (born 27 August 1959 in Mussere) is a Southern Saami yoiker and musician (piano and synthesizer) from Norway. He is best known for his band Transjoik and as the composer of the 2002 song "Eatnemen Vuelie", which was later adapted to become the opening musical number of '' Frozen''. Fjellheim was raised in Gausdal and Karasjok, and is of South Sámi origin. Career Fjellheim was educated at the Classical program at Trøndelag Musikkonservatorium (1980–84). Kautokeino ( no, Kautokeino; se, Guovdageaidnu ; fkv, Koutokeino; fi, Koutokeino) is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The Áillohaš Music Award is an annual Sámi music award created to commemorate Nils-Aslak ''Áillohaš'' Valkeapää's 50th birthday in 1993. The winner of the award is announced on Holy Saturday in conjunction with the Sámi Grand Prix during the Sámi Easter Festival. It is conferred by the municipality of Kautokeino and the Kautokeino Sámi Association. The winner receives a monetary prize of 20,000 Norwegian crowns, a diploma, a piece of artwork, and a two-week stay at Lásságámmi. Hålogaland Teater
Hålogaland Teater is a regional theatre serving the region of Nord-Norge, the northernmost of Norway. It got its name after the northernmost county in Norway in the Middle Ages Hålogaland. When established in 1971, it was the first regional theatre in Norway and the first professional theatre in Nord-Norge. Many of its productions are staged in the regional Norwegian dialects. ULTIMA Oslo Contemporary Music Festival is a Norwegian music festival for contemporary music. Background Ultima is Scandinavia's largest contemporary music festival, and since 1991 it has been a key arena for contemporary music and related art forms.
