Edvardprisen
The Edvard Prize is a Norwegian music award in given by TONO, copyright organization for musicians and composers. The award, which was first awarded in 1998, is awarded annually and can only be awarded to members of the organization. The goal is to enhance the musical life and increase awareness of Norwegian composers and writers and their works. The prize is named after the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Odd Nordstoga
Odd Nordstoga (born 10 December 1972) is a folk singer, musician, actor and editor from Vinje in Telemark, Norway. In 2004, he went from relative obscurity to becoming the country's biggest selling recording artist, with the phenomenal success of his first solo album proper, ''"Luring"''. The album, a fusion of pop and Norwegian folk music, has sold more than 160,000 copies in Norway to date and earned him several Spellemannsprisen awards. John Persen
John Andreas Persen (9 November 1941 – 12 December 2014) was a Norwegian composer. John Persen grew up in a laestadian, Sami family in Ráigeadja in Porsanger and was a son-in-law of Finn Strømsted. In 1968, John Persen moved to Oslo to study music and initiated the establishment of the Norwegian Academy of Music at the same time. He was the student representative for the creation of the Norwegian Academy of Music (1969-1971), leader for the UNM music festival (1970-1973) and leader for Ny Musikk (1973-1976). He was a key player involved in Kunstneraksjonen 74 (an artist' right pressure group) and important advocate for the New Music. Olav Anton Thommessen
Olav Anton Thommessen (born 16 May 1946) is a Norwegian contemporary composer who has been one of the foremost modernist composers in Norway since the 1970s. His main compositions include ''Et glassperlespill'' and ''Gjennom Prisme''. He was a professor of composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music until retiring in 2014, and has also been an influential figure in music education and music organisations in Norway. Geir Bøhren
Geir Bøhren (born 9 June 1951) is a Norwegian musician and film score composer. Bøhren co-founded the group Junipher Greene in 1966, where he was a drummer. The band started playing blues but later changed to progressive rock. It signed its first record contract in 1971. He graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in 1977. Along with Bent Åserud, Bøhren had his breakthrough as a film score composer for ''Orion's Belt'' with the theme Svalbardtema, which has become an unofficial anthem for Svalbard.Skagen: 34 With this score, they won the Amanda Award for best score and the Film Critics' Award. Øystein Sunde
Øystein Olaf Sunde (born 24 January 1947) is a Norwegian folk singer and guitarist. He is known for his high-speed guitar and banjo style and his satirical lyrics. Although often regarded as a comedian, Sunde is a versatile guitarist who has played with several Dixieland bands and jazz combos over the years. Henrik Hellstenius
Henrik Hellstenius (born 28 April 1963) is a Norwegian composer and musicologist. Born in Bærum, Norway, Hellstenius studied musicology at the University of Oslo and composition with Lasse Thoresen, Olav Anton Thommessen and Bjørn Kruse at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. He studied in 1992–1993 with Gérard Grisey at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in Paris, and he also studied computer-supported composition at IRCAM. Øyvind Brandtsegg
Øyvind Brandtsegg (born 16 February 1971 in Steinkjer, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (percussion, electronica), programmer and composer, known from a series of recordings, and collaborations with such bands as Motorpsycho and Krøyt. Career Brandtsegg studied music at the "Sund folkehøgskole" (Sund Folk High School) in Inderøy. He studied the vibraphone at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and created a music software program called ImproSculpt, which samples different tones from the environment (including via body sensors) at the same time the music is performed, processes them and generates ever-changing variations in real time.
