Joeri Jansen (born 28 May 1979 in Turnhout) is a Belgian athlete, specialised in the 800 m. Biography Jansen made his international breakthrough, when he was awarded the silver medal at the 2001 European Athletics U23 Championships. Four years later, he came in as 5th at the European Indoor Championship. The event was won by Yuriy Borzakovskiy of Russia, the first medal for the nation in the event. Wilson Kipketer of Denmark became the 10th man to win a second medal in the 800 metres. Summary The first round had split a full roster of runners into nine heats with the first two gaining a direct qualification and then the next six fastest across all heats advancing to the semifinals.
