Irish Scottish People
Irish-Scots are people in Scotland who have traceable Irish ancestry. Although there has been migration from Ireland (especially Ulster) to Britain for millennia permanently changing the historic landscape of Scotland forever, Irish migration to Scotland increased in the nineteenth century, and was highest following the Great Famine. In this period, the Irish typically settled in cities and industrial areas. Irish ancestry is by far the most common foreign ancestry in Scotland. In the 2011 UK census, 1% of the population in Scotland identified their ethnicity as being 'White - Irish'. Bryan Ferry
Bryan Ferry Order of the British Empire, CBE (born 26 September 1945) is an English singer and songwriter. His voice has been described as an "elegant, seductive croon". He also established a distinctive image and sartorial style: according to ''The Independent'', Ferry and his contemporary David Bowie influenced a generation with both their music and their appearances. Peter York described Ferry as "an art object" who "should hang in the Tate". Born to a working-class family, Ferry studied fine art and taught at a secondary school before pursuing a career in music. In 1970 he began to assemble the rock band Roxy Music with a group of friends and acquaintances in London, and took the role of lead singer and main songwriter. The band achieved immediate international success with the release of their eponymous debut album in 1972, containing a rich multitude of sounds, which reflected Ferry's interest in exploring different genres of music. Their second album, ''For Your Pleasure'' ...

Glittering Prize 81/92
''Glittering Prize 81/92'' is a compilation album by Simple Minds, released in 1992. It spans the period from ''Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call'' (the first album recorded by Simple Minds for Virgin Records) to ''Real Life Real life is a phrase used originally in literature to distinguish between the real world and fictional, virtual or idealized worlds, and in acting to distinguish between actors and the characters they portray. It has become a popular term on the ...''. The album omits the earliest period of Simple Minds' recording career, which yielded three albums released on Arista (only reissues are on Virgin). At the time of its release, the album was promoted by the double A-side single "Love Song/Alive and Kicking", where "Love Song" appeared in a remixed form. Street Fighting Years
''Street Fighting Years'' is the eighth studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released in May 1989 by record label Virgin Records worldwide apart from the US, where it was released by A&M. Produced by Trevor Horn and Stephen Lipson, the album reached the top of the UK Albums Chart. Recording ''Street Fighting Years'' was recorded during yet another period of personnel change for Simple Minds, and was notably the last of the band's albums to feature keyboard player/composer/founder member Mick MacNeil. MacNeil has subsequently mentioned that "Jim (Kerr) had already started talking about making changes" and the credits for the album suggested that Simple Minds had officially become a trio of the only three remaining founder members — Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and Mick MacNeil (all previous albums had credited the band as a full quintet). The lack of equality and unity within the band's ranks soon became evident. Drummer Mel Gaynor was sidelined during the album s ...

Once Upon A Time (Simple Minds Album)
''Once Upon a Time'' is the seventh studio album by Scottish rock band Simple Minds, released in October 1985 by record label Virgin ( A&M in the US). Background The album paired the group with music producer Jimmy Iovine. He had worked with artists featuring an aggressive guitar-based sound, including singer-songwriters Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks, and he brought that approach to the band. Iovine particularly pushed frontman Jim Kerr, aiming for more energetic vocals. Although already successful in their native U.K. and various countries in Europe and Oceania, Simple Minds had also recently become popular in the U.S., mainly due to the Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff-penned "Don't You (Forget About Me)". That track appeared on ''The Breakfast Club'' soundtrack and had become a No. 1 hit there. However, the band deliberately left the track off the album due to their reluctance to record it. Still, the bombastic pop rock sound proved influential in the construction of muc ...
