Jenna Loder
Jenna Loder (born July 11, 1988) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She currently plays third on Team Beth Peterson. She is a two-time Canadian junior champion and two-time world junior medallist (2008, 2009), playing third for Kaitlyn Lawes. Career Loder, along with skip Kaitlyn Lawes, second Liz Peters, and lead Sarah Wazney, represented Manitoba at the 2008 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they won, beating Stephanie McVicar's Saskatchewan rink in the final to qualify for the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships. There, the team lost the 3 vs. 4 playoff game against Russia's Liudmila Privivkova; they faced the Russians again in the bronze medal match, which they won. Loder, along with Lawes and a new front end of Laryssa Grenkow and Breanne Meakin, returned to the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, making playoffs and defeating Rachel Homan's team from Ontario in the final. Sarah Pyke (born January 13, 1987 in Winnipeg, Manitoba as Sarah Wazney) is a Canadian curler. She currently plays lead on Team Kristy Watling. She is a former Canadian junior champion and World junior bronze medallist. Curling career Juniors Pyke's junior career involved winning a number of provincial titles. She played for Manitoba at the 2003 Canada Winter Games, she won the 2001 and 2003 Manitoba Under 16 championships, was a silver medallist at the 2004 U18 Optimist International event. She was also a CIS/CCA Canadian University Gold Medallist in 2008. In 2007 Pyke won the 2008 Manitoba mixed title playing lead for Reid Carruthers. The team represented Manitoba at the 2008 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship where they finished with a 5-6 record. Grand Slam Of Curling
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Eve Muirhead
Eve Muirhead (born 22 April 1990) is a Scottish former curler from Perth and the skip of the British Olympic Curling team. Muirhead and the GB team became Olympic champions at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, having previously won the bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. As skip of the Scotland team, Muirhead won the 2011 European Championships in Moscow, the 2013 World Championships in Riga, the 2017 European Championships in St. Gallen and the 2021 European Championships in Lillehammer. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curler. Homan is a former Canadian junior champion, a three-time Canadian national champion, and the 2017 world champion, all as a skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. The 2009 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships was held January 31-February 8 at the Sunwave Centre and the Salmon Arm Curling Club in Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Breanne Knapp
Breanne Knapp (born April 16, 1990 in Winnipeg, Manitoba as Breanne Meakin) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. She is a four-time Manitoba Junior Champion and a one-time Canadian junior champion (2009). She has won a silver medal at the World Junior Curling Championships. Career Juniors Knapp had a successful Junior career. At the Canadian Junior Curling Championships she won silver in 2007 and gold in 2009. Liudmila Privivkova
Liudmila Andreyevna Privivkova (russian: Людмила Андреевна Прививкова) (born 13 September 1986 in Moscow; also spelled Ludmila or Liudmilla, but she spells it Liudmila) is a curler (Skip) from Russia. At the 2006 Winter Olympics, in Turin, Italy, she was the skip for the Russian team. Apart from the national team, she plays for the Moskvitch Curling Club, from Moscow. She won the World Junior Curling Championships in Jeonju, Korea on 19 March 2006 and the 2006 European Curling Championships in December the same year. Her team also qualified for the 2007 World Women's Curling Championship, but did not enjoy the same success as in the European tournament, finishing tied for 8th place with a 4-7 record.
