Jang Sung-ho (baseball)
Jang Sung-ho (Hangul: 장성호, Hanja: 張成鎬; born October 18, 1977 in Seoul, South Korea) is a South Korean first baseman/outfielder who former plays for the Lotte Giants of the KBO League. He won the batting title in the 2002 KBO league, and was a member of the South Korea national baseball team that won the bronze medal in 2000 Summer Olympics. At the time of his retirement, he was second on the all time KBO hit list with 2,100. A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The first baseman is responsible for the majority of plays made at that base. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the first baseman is assigned the number 3. Also called first sacker or cornerman, the first baseman is ideally a tall player who throws left-handed and possesses good flexibility and quick reflexes. South Korea National Baseball Team
The South Korean national baseball team ( ko, 대한민국 야구 국가대표팀) is the national baseball team of South Korea. It won the Baseball World Cup in 1982, and participated in the Summer Olympic Games of 1984, 1988, 1996, and 2000. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, it won the gold medal in a final victory against Cuba. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases.
