Jamie Cachia
Jamie Cachia (born 7 September 1987) is a Scottish field hockey goalkeeper who plays for the Scotland men's national field hockey team. He plays his club hockey for Beeston Hockey Club in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division. From 2011-2014 Cachia played for Sheffield Hockey Club. Cachia was educated at Craigclowan Preparatory School, Strathallan School and Durham University. He was first called into the Scotland squad whilst studying at Durham University in 2009. He was a member of the Scotland squad that finished in ninth place at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Cachia was also a member of the Scotland squad that played in the 2011 EuroHockey Nations Championship II in Ukraine and the 2013 EuroHockey Nations Championship II in Austria. Beeston Hockey Club
Beeston Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Beeston, England. The club was founded in 1907, and plays its home games at the Nottingham Hockey Centre in Nottingham. Beeston is nicknamed ''the Bees''. The men's 1st XI plays in the Men's England Hockey League and the ladies 1st XI in the Women's England Hockey League. The majority of the other teams compete in the Midlands League. The large club fields six men's sides, seven ladies sides and various junior sides. History The men's 1st XI won its first major trophy in 2008, defeating Bowdon 4–3 in the Men's National Cup. The men's team won its first National League Premier Division title in 2010/11, and went on to win it again in 2012/13 and 2013/14. The men's 1st XI have also competed in the Euro Hockey League. Hockey At The 2014 Commonwealth Games – Men's Tournament
The men's field hockey event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games was held at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre from 25 July to 3 August 2014. Australia defeated India in the final to take their fifth consecutive gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, whilst England defeated New Zealand on penalties in the bronze medal match. Competition format Two groups each of five teams were drawn. Pool A consisted of Scotland, Australia, India, South Africa and Wales; whilst pool B consisted of Canada, England, Malaysia, New Zealand and Trinidad and Tobago. The teams were required to play each other team in their group once in a group stage format. Three points were awarded for a win and one for a draw, with goal difference being necessary should the teams be tied on the same number of points.
