Beeston Hockey Club
Beeston Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Beeston, England. The club was founded in 1907, and plays its home games at the Nottingham Hockey Centre in Nottingham. Beeston is nicknamed ''the Bees''. The men's 1st XI plays in the Men's England Hockey League and the ladies 1st XI in the Women's England Hockey League. The majority of the other teams compete in the Midlands League. The large club fields six men's sides, seven ladies sides and various junior sides. History The men's 1st XI won its first major trophy in 2008, defeating Bowdon 4–3 in the Men's National Cup. The men's team won its first National League Premier Division title in 2010/11, and went on to win it again in 2012/13 and 2013/14. The men's 1st XI have also competed in the Euro Hockey League. Beeston HC twinned with HC Rotterdam on 1 February 2017. In 2020, Beeston secured an historic cup double by winning both the men's cup and women's cup competitions in the same season. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. David Ames (field Hockey)
David Vincent Leslie Ames (born 25 June 1989) is an Irish field hockey player, who plays as a defender or midfielder for Oranje-Rood and the England and Great Britain national teams. He represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics and was a member of the England team that won the bronze medal at the 2017 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship. He also represented England at the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup. Club career Cookstown High School Ames attended Cookstown High School between 2001 and 2009. Between 2007 and 2009 he captained the Cookstown High School team that won the All Ireland Schoolboys Hockey Championship and two successive Burney Cup/McCullough Cup doubles. James Peter Albery (born 2 October 1995) is an English field hockey player who plays as a defender or midfielder for Old Georgians and the England and Great Britain national teams. He attended The Leys School, Cambridge. In Upper Sixth he was Head Boy. Club career He plays club hockey in the Men's England Hockey League Premier Division for Old Georgians. 2021–22 Women's England Hockey League Season
The 2021–22 Women's England Hockey League season (sponsored by Vitality) is the 2021–22 season of England's field hockey league structure and England Hockey Women's Championship Cup. The 2021–22 season returned to normality following two seasons of disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The 2021–22 Premier Division saw the same teams competing from the following season, which had been cancelled. Therefore Surbiton were the defending champions, having won the league during the 2019–20 season. The season started on 18 September 2021, with the Premier Division using a new system of two phases. The first phase would consist of 10 matches per club and would be completed by the end of 2021, determining the top six clubs (irrespective of home and away advantage) for phase 2. The 2019–20 Women's England Hockey League season (sponsored by Investec) is the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in April 2020 but finished on 5 September 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions are Surbiton. Conference North champions Loughborough Students and Conference East champions Hampstead & Westminster replaced the relegated Slough and Canterbury respectively. Surbiton were declared champions following the end of the regular season because the playoffs were curtailed on 17 March 2020 due to COVID-19. The 2019–20 Men's England Hockey League season was the 2019–20 season of England's field hockey league structure. The season started on 14 September 2019 and was due to end in March 2020, but finished on 12 September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The defending champions were Hampstead and Westminster. Old Georgians, winners of the Hockey League Conference East replaced the relegated Sevenoaks. On 17 March 2020, the play-offs were suspended due to COVID. The play-offs were officially cancelled on 28 April 2020 and Surbiton were crowned champions. The 2015–2016 English Hockey League season took place from September 2015 until April 2016. The regular season consisted of two periods September until December and then February until March. The end of season playoffs known as the League Finals Weekend was held on the 16 & 17 of April. Wimbledon won the Men's Premier League title despite finishing fourth in the regular season league standings.
