James Guy Tucker Jr. (born June 13, 1943) is an American politician and attorney from Arkansas. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 43rd governor of Arkansas, the 15th lieutenant governor, state attorney general, and U.S. representative. Tucker resigned the governorship and was replaced by Mike Huckabee on July 16, 1996, after his conviction for fraud during the Whitewater affair. Early life Tucker was born in Oklahoma City and moved to Arkansas before school age. He attended public schools in Little Rock, graduating from Hall High School in 1961. He had his first taste of politics when he ran for and was elected Vice-President of Key Club International (the largest and oldest high school service organization in the United States). Bill James (15 August 1929 – 17 June 2023) is a pseudonym of Allan James Tucker, a Welsh novelist. He also wrote under his own name and the pseudonyms ''David Craig'' and ''Judith Jones''. He was a reporter with the Daily Mirror and various other newspapers after serving with the RAF He was married, with four children, and lived in South Wales. The bulk of his output under the Bill James pseudonym is the ''Harpur and Iles'' series. Colin Harpur is a Detective Chief Inspector and Desmond Iles is the Assistant Chief Constable in an unnamed coastal city in southwestern England. James Rosenberg Tucker (1808–1888) was an Australian convict and author from Bristol, England. Under the pseudonym Giacomo di Rosenberg, Tucker wrote his autobiographical ''Ralph Rashleigh; or, The Life of an Exile'' in 1844. It was published in a heavily edited form in 1929, and his original manuscript was published in 1952. Tucker was convicted at the Chelmsford Spring Assizes on 3 March 1826 of blackmailing his cousin, James Stanyford Tucker. He was tried before Sir William Alexander, C.B., "On an indictment for sending a threatening letter...accus ngof an infamous crime" and sentenced to transportation for life. He was 18 years old at the time. The next year he was put aboard the convict ship ''Midas'', which sailed for Sydney Cove. He arrived in Sydney in 1827 and worked at Emu Plains, New South Wales. James D. Tucker (December 11, 1932 – May 14, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. Biography Tucker attended Paris Western High School in Paris, Kentucky. A 6' 7" forward from Duquesne University, Tucker played three seasons (1954–1957) in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Syracuse Nationals. He averaged 4.1 points per game in his career and won a league championship in 1955. Tucker and teammate Earl Lloyd were also the first two African Americans to play on an NBA championship team. In 2018, a short documentary titled "Let 'Em Know You're There" told the story of Jim's professional basketball career and eventual battle with Alzheimer's disease. The documentary won a 2019 Mid-Atlantic Emmy. James Neil Tucker (January 12, 1957 – May 28, 2004) was a convicted murderer executed by the U.S. state of South Carolina by means of the electric chair. He was convicted of the murders of Rosa Lee "Dolly" Oakley and Shannon Lynn Mellon. Childhood and life before murders Tucker was born in Utah, the youngest of three children. After his mother divorced, she remarried to a man with four children of his own. An eighth child came from this marriage. Tucker claimed during his trial and appeals that his stepfather had punished him severely, and as a youth, Tucker had committed petty crimes in an attempt to be taken out of the home by the authorities.
