Jim Tucker (basketball)
James D. Tucker (December 11, 1932 – May 14, 2020) was an American professional basketball player. Biography Tucker attended Paris Western High School in Paris, Kentucky. A 6' 7" forward from Duquesne University, Tucker played three seasons (1954–1957) in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Syracuse Nationals. He averaged 4.1 points per game in his career and won a league championship in 1955. Tucker and teammate Earl Lloyd were also the first two African Americans to play on an NBA championship team. In 2018, a short documentary titled "Let 'Em Know You're There" told the story of Jim's professional basketball career and eventual battle with Alzheimer's disease. The documentary won a 2019 Mid-Atlantic Emmy. James P. Tucker, Jr. (December 31, 1934 – April 26, 2013), also known as Big Jim Tucker, was an American journalist and author of ''Jim Tucker's Bilderberg Diary'' who began to focus on the Bilderberg Group in 1975. Tucker has been described as a "veteran Bilderberg observer", "the doyen of Bilderberg hunters", as "an oddball Washington journalist", and as a "right-wing conspiracy investigator". Tucker died from complications due to a fall, according to his obituary. Career Journalism Tucker was a sports journalist with a newspaper in Washington from 1975 until his death. Tucker started writing for the populist newspaper ''The Spotlight'' in 1975, and continued as a contributor until its closure in 2001. James Guy Tucker Jr. (born June 13, 1943) is an American politician and attorney from Arkansas. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 43rd governor of Arkansas, the 15th lieutenant governor, state attorney general, and U.S. representative. Tucker resigned the governorship and was replaced by Mike Huckabee on July 16, 1996, after his conviction for fraud during the Whitewater affair. Early life Tucker was born in Oklahoma City and moved to Arkansas before school age. He attended public schools in Little Rock, graduating from Hall High School in 1961. He had his first taste of politics when he ran for and was elected Vice-President of Key Club International (the largest and oldest high school service organization in the United States). On April 7, 1994, Federal Express Flight 705, a McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 cargo jet carrying electronics equipment across the United States from Memphis, Tennessee, to San Jose, California, was involved in a hijack attempt by Auburn R. Calloway, who the prosecution argued was trying to commit suicide. Calloway, a Federal Express employee, was facing possible dismissal for lying about his flight hours. He boarded the scheduled flight as a deadhead passenger carrying a guitar case concealing several hammers and a speargun. He tried to switch off the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder (CVR) before takeoff and, once airborne, kill the crew with hammers so their injuries would appear consistent with an accident rather than a hijacking.
