James Hall (gymnast)
James Robert Hall (born 6 October 1995) is an English artistic gymnast. A member of the English and British Senior teams since 2014, he has best known as an all-around and team gymnast, having won all-around bronze and team gold and silver in the European Artistic Gymnastic Championships and two team golds and an individual all-round silver in the Commonwealth Games. His signature piece is horizontal bar, in which he has won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games Personal life Hall was born 6 October 1995 in Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia. His family moved to Kent, England in 1997. He began gymnastics at age six after a coach encouraged him to so do. In 2018, Hall became an ambassador for the Young Lives Foundation, a charity that helps disadvantaged youth in Kent, England. 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held in Liverpool, United Kingdom at the Liverpool Arena, from 29 October to 6 November 2022. The United Kingdom previously hosted this event in 1993 (Birmingham), 2009 (London) and 2015 (Glasgow). The championships is a qualification event for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The top three teams in both the men's and women's team finals will obtain five quota places for Paris, and qualify for the team event. British Gymnastics
British Gymnastics, also known as the British Amateur Gymnastics Association (BAGA), is the sports governing body for gymnastics and Trampolining in the UK. History It was founded in 1888 as the Amateur Gymnastics and Fencing Association. Gymnastics had been adopted in this country, having been invented in Germany by Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, to improve the health and fitness of its soldiers. The rings, pommel horse, parallel bars, and horizontal bar were developed by Jahn. In the late 1800s gymnastics became popular for men thanks to the Army Physical Training Corps which was formed in 1860. Walter Tysall won the men's silver medal in the 1908 Olympics. After this time the Swedish form of gymnastics became more popular, a more artistic version developed by Pehr Henrik Ling which was for men and women, and needed little apparatus. Jake Jarman (born 3 December 2001) is an elite English artistic gymnast from Peterborough, competing internationally for Great Britain, and for England at the Commonwealth Games. In his first major senior championships, the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Jarman won the gold medal in the team all-around, individual all-around, floor exercise and vault, the first English male gymnast to win four gold medals at a single Games. A few weeks later in Munich, representing Great Britain, Jarman became European champion in the team and vault events, becoming the first British male to win European gold on vault. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017.
