Jaki Whitren
Jaki Whitren (also ''Jacky Whitren'', 1954 in Southampton – November 24, 2016) was a British singer-songwriter. Her debut album, ''Raw But Tender'' (1973), featuring the single "Give Her The Day" which received some airplay on BBC Radio 1, was recorded when she was 19 years old. It was a mix of blues, folk and rock, and she also played guitar and banjo. She played a tour, supporting John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. She also contributed to the Alan Parsons Project's release in 1977, '' I Robot''. In later years, she devoted herself to her personal and musical relationship with husband and fellow musician John Cartwright, in a more avant-garde jazz direction. Her only other album was the self-released ''Isis Unveiled''. She died of cancer shortly after his death from a heart attack. Southampton
Southampton () is a port city in the ceremonial county of Hampshire in southern England. It is located approximately south-west of London and west of Portsmouth. The Alan Parsons Project
The Alan Parsons Project was a British rock band active between 1975 and 1990, whose core membership consisted of producer, audio engineer, musician and composer Alan Parsons and singer, songwriter and pianist Eric Woolfson. They were accompanied by varying session musicians and some relatively consistent session players such as guitarist Ian Bairnson, arranger Andrew Powell, bassist and vocalist David Paton, drummer Stuart Elliott, and vocalists Lenny Zakatek and Chris Rainbow. Parsons and Woolfson shared writing credits on almost all of the Project's songs, with Parsons producing or co-producing all of the band's recordings. The Alan Parsons Project released eleven studio albums in its 15-year career, the most successful being '' I Robot'' (1977) and '' Eye in the Sky'' (1982). Minimum Vital
Minimum Vital is a French progressive rock band founded in 1982 by the brothers Thierry and Jean Luc Payssan from Bègles near Bordeaux. Style Minimum Vital's musical style is primarily instrumental with influences from jazz rock and folk music, combined with modern elements. The songs contain virtuoso harmonies and rhythms, accompanied by lush vocal textures reminiscent of art rock and Yes. There are also stylistic elements of traditional southern European, medieval and renaissance music, although the band has changed its style over the decades, it has remained true to classic progressive rock styles. I Robot (album)
''I Robot'' is the second studio album by British rock band The Alan Parsons Project, released on 8 July 1977 by Arista Records. The album draws conceptually on author Isaac Asimov's science fiction ''Robot'' stories, exploring philosophical themes regarding artificial intelligence. It was re-released on vinyl and cassette tape in 1984 and on CD in 2007. Background and concept The album was intended to be based on the ''I, Robot'' stories written by Asimov, and Eric Woolfson spoke with Asimov himself, who was enthusiastic about the idea. As the rights already had been granted to a TV/movie company, the album's title was altered slightly by removing the comma in "I,", and the theme and lyrics were made to be more generically about robots rather than to be specific to the Asimov universe.
