Jacques Lob
Jacques Lob (19 August 1932 – 24 May 1990) was a French comic book creator, known for several comics creations, including '' Superdupont''. Biography Jacques Lob began his career as an illustrator of humorous cartoons that were published in various magazines, until he was advised to focus on his writing by Jean-Michel Charlier. Working for magazines like ''Pilote'', '' Spirou'', and ''Record'' in the early 1960s, he wrote material for artists such as Jean-Claude Mézières, Pierre Guilmard, Jo-El Azara and eventually Jijé providing material for ''Jerry Spring''. Upon meeting Georges Pichard, the two began a partnership that would span several works and a few genres. Initially they produced ''Ténébrax'' in 1964, for the short-lived magazine ''Chouchou''; its serialisation continued in the Italian magazine '' Linus''. ''linus'' is an Italian comics magazine published in Italy since 1965. It is the first Italian magazine exclusively focused on comics. During a period of crisis, the magazine was not published in May and June 2013, but returned in July, published by Baldini & Castoldi. History and profile The first number of ''linus'' was published in April 1965 by Milano Libri, a subsidiary of Rizzoli, and was later published by Baldini & Castoldi in monthly issues until April 2013. Société Dargaud, doing business as Les Éditions Dargaud, is a publisher of Franco-Belgian comics series, headquartered in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. It was founded in 1936 by Georges Dargaud (), publishing its first comics in 1943. History Initially, Dargaud published novels for women. In 1948, it started '' Line'', a "magazine for elegant women", as well as a French edition of the Belgian ''Tintin'' magazine. In 1960, Dargaud bought the weekly ''Pilote'' magazine from René Goscinny, Albert Uderzo, and Jean-Michel Charlier. Les Humanoïdes Associés (or simply Humanoïdes) is a France, Franco-United States, American publishing house specializing in comics and graphic novels, founded in December 1974 by comic artists Jean Giraud, Mœbius, Jean-Pierre Dionnet, Philippe Druillet, and financial director Bernard Farkas with the goal to publish the magazine ''Métal Hurlant,''which focused on science fiction. He is best known and recognized for the comic book series '' Edmond le Cochon'' and '' Le Transperceneige'', as well as for his illustrations of the literary classic '' Candide ou l'optimisme'' by Voltaire, and Homer's ''Odyssey''. Alexis (18 September 1946 – 7 September 1977) was the pseudonym of Dominique Vallet (), a French comics artist, best known for his work on the series ''Al Crane'' and ''Superdupont''. Biography Alexis started working for ''Pilote'' magazine in 1968, providing illustrations and gags. In 1969, he began a collaboration with Fred on the series ''Timoléon'', and started his working relationship with Gotlib on the film parody series ''Cinémastok'' in 1970. The partnership with Gotlib continued for several years, leading to the creation of the magazine ''Fluide Glacial'' in 1975 where the advertising parody series ''La Publicité dans la Joie'' was published. In 1976, Alexis started the humorous western series ''Al Crane'', in collaboration with Gérard Lauzier, and in 1977 he succeeded Gotlib as artist of the series ''Superdupont'', written by Jacques Lob. ''L’Écho des Savanes'' is a Franco-Belgian comics magazine founded in May 1972 by Claire Bretécher, Marcel Gotlib and Nikita Mandryka. It featured the work of French and international authors and graphic artists in mature-oriented comics over the course of 34 years and temporarily ended publication in December 2006. It was relaunched in 2008. History The first issue of ''L’Écho des Savanes'' was published on May 1, 1972. It was the only issue that year, although popular demand caused it to be reprinted in several editions. All its pages (except for the cover) were in black and white and exclusively contained the work of its founders, Bretécher, Gotlib and Mandryka.
