Jacqueline Veuve
Jacqueline Veuve (29 January 1930 – 18 April 2013) was a Swiss filmmaker known for "ethnographical cinema". She has been referred to as the "great lady of the Swiss documentary film." She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the 2013 Swiss Film Prize. Life Jacqueline Reber was born in Payerne, Switzerland, in 1930 to Maurice Reber and Yvonne Reymond. After studying in Lausanne, she attended the School of Library and Information Science in Geneva (1952–1953) Veuve then went to Paris to work on her diploma thesis and she met the French filmmaker and ethnologist Jean Rouch in 1955 at the Museum of Man. She made her first short film ''Le Panier à viande'' in 1966 with Swiss director Yves Yersin. In the early 1970s she spent time at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to work with British documentary filmmaker Richard Leacock and during her time there, she made two short films about the women's movement in the United States. The ''Swiss Film Award'' (formerly ''Swiss Film Prize'', also called ''Quartz'') (french: Prix du cinéma suisse, german: Schweizer Filmpreis, it, Premio del cinema svizzero, rm, Premi dal film svizzer) is the national film award of Switzerland, first given out in 1998. Payerne
Payerne (; frp, Payèrna) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It was the seat of the district of Payerne, and is now part of the district of Broye-Vully. The German name ''Peterlingen'' for the town is out of use. History The earliest traces of settlements near Payerne include Neolithic objects and traces of a Bronze Age settlement. Jean Rouch
Jean Rouch (; 31 May 1917 – 18 February 2004) was a French filmmaker and anthropologist. He is considered one of the founders of cinéma vérité in France. Rouch's practice as a filmmaker, for over 60 years in Africa, was characterized by the idea of ''shared anthropology''. Influenced by his discovery of surrealism in his early twenties, many of his films blur the line between fiction and documentary, creating a new style: ethnofiction. The French New Wave filmmakers hailed Rouch as one of their own. Yves Yersin (4 October 1942 – 15 November 2018) was a Swiss film director. His film '' Les petites fugues'' competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1979 Cannes Film Festival. Biography Yersin studied photography at the Center Vocational de Vevey from 1959 to 1961, and received a Federal Certificate of Capacity.
