Jaan Arder
Jaan Arder (born 26 February 1952, in Tallinn – 24 July 2014) was an Estonian singer. He was a member of the rock band Apelsin and the early music ensemble Hortus Musicus. His older brother Ott Arder Ott Arder (26 February 1950 in Tallinn – 26 June 2004 in Kassari) was an Estonian poet, children's writer and translator. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Rock Band
A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music. Apelsin
Apelsin (Estonian for ''Orange'') was an Estonian band created in 1974 by Tõnu Aare. Their lyrics are in the Estonian and Russian languages. During the Soviet era their LP albums were issued by the Soviet music monopoly ''Melodiya''. The Russian name of the band was ''Апельсин''. In both Estonian and Russian, the band's name means ''orange (fruit)''. Early Music
Early music generally comprises Medieval music (500–1400) and Renaissance music (1400–1600), but can also include Baroque music (1600–1750). Hortus Musicus
Hortus Musicus is an Estonian ensemble that was established in 1972 by Andres Mustonen, a violin student of the Tallinn State Conservatory. Hortus Musicus specialises in performing early music, including 8th–15th-century European forms such as Gregorian Chant, Organum, Medieval Liturgic Hymns and Motets, the Franco-Flemish School, and Renaissance Music (including French chansons, villanelles and Italian madrigals). The group also presents early, non-European styles including Indian Ragas, Israeli temple songs, Arabian mughams and Jewish music. The group's repertoire has also included pieces by 20th-century composers (often created specially for Hortus Musicus, e.g. by Arvo Pärt). Hortus Musicus has given concerts in the US, Turkey, Japan, and Israel, and has performed at several major early music festivals. Ott Arder
