Christogram
A Christogram ( la, Monogramma Christi) is a monogram or combination of letters that forms an abbreviation for the name of Jesus Christ, traditionally used as a religious symbol within the Christian Church. One of the oldest Christograms is the Chi-Rho (☧). It consists of the superimposed Greek letters chi and rho , which are the first two letters of Greek "Christ". It was displayed on the ''labarum'' military standard used by Constantine I in AD 312. The IX monogram () is a similar form, using the initials of the name "Jesus (the) Christ", as is the ΙΗ monogram (), using the first two letters of the name "JESUS" in uppercase. There were a very considerable number of variants of "Christograms" or monograms of Christ in use during the medieval period, with the boundary between specific monograms and mere scribal abbreviations somewhat fluid. JW Hunt Cup
The JW Hunt Cup is an annual charity football competition for teams based in the West Midlands area of England. The defending champions are Lye Town, who defeated Boldmere St. Michaels 2–1 in the 2021–22 final. History The JW Hunt Cup was formed in 1926 to raise funds for the benefit of the local blind. It is named in memory of John William Hunt, a local businessman, keen supporter of charities and founder of the Chillington Tool Company. The inaugural winners at the end of the 1926–27 season were Short Heath United, beating Cannon Iron on 14 April 1927 at Molineux. Short Heath United are the joint most successful club in the competition alongside Goodyear F.C, with both clubs having won on four occasions. James Hoey Craigie
James Hoey Craigie TD FRIBA (7 May 1870 – 30 March 1930) was a Scottish architect. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art. In 1894 he won the Alexander Thomson travelling scholarship which he spent in France and Italy. In 1905 he was made a partner in the firm Clarke & Bell, its name changing to Clarke & Bell & J H Craigie. Significant works Craigie's significant work includes the domed roof and restaurant additions to the Grosvenor Building, 72–80 Gordon Street (1902–07); Art Nouveau remodelling of early 19th century tenement, 186–188 Argyle Street (1908); the reconstruction of the Justiciary Buildings in Glasgow (1910–13); Corona Bar, Langside (1912–13); and St Mary's Parish Church, Kirkintilloch (1912–14). James Henry Coyne
James Henry Coyne, (October 3, 1849 – January 5, 1942) was a Canadian lawyer and historian. Born in St. Thomas, Canada West (now Ontario), the second son of William Coyne and Christina Patterson, Coyne graduated from University College, Toronto in 1870. He studied law in St. Thomas and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1874. He practiced law in St. Thomas. During the Fenian raids of 1866, Coyne joined the St. Thomas Rifles (or 1st Volunteer Militia Rifle Company at St. Thomas which formed the 25th Elgin Battalion of Infantry and now as 31 Combat Engineer Regiment (The Elgin's)) and served in three campaigns in London, Port Stanley, and Sarnia. He acted as quartermaster-sergeant to the Provisional battalion of volunteers in Thorold. James Hodge Codding (July 8, 1849 – September 12, 1919) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. James H. Codding was born in Pike Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. He moved to Towanda, Pennsylvania, in 1854. He attended the Susquehanna Collegiate Institute in Towanda and Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He was engaged in the hardware business at Towanda in 1868. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Towanda in 1879. Codding was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Myron B. James Henry Callander (18 August 1803 – 31 January 1851), of Craigforth, Stirlingshire, was a Scottish politician. Background Callander was the eldest son of Colonel George Callander of Craigforth, son of Sir James Campbell Callander and Elizabeth MacDonnell, daughter of the 5th Earl of Antrim.
