JŽ 664 Locomotive
The JŽ 664 locomotives were a class of diesel locomotives operated by Yugoslav Railways. They are an GM-EMD export model of type EMD G26, subclass 664-0 was built by EMD, subclass 664-1 was built by Đuro Đaković from 1972 until 1984. After the breakup of Yugoslavia the locomotives were split. SŽ Series 664
The SŽ series 664 (formerly JŽ series 664, subseries 100), nicknamed ''Reagan'' is a diesel locomotive operated by the Slovenian Railways ( sl, Slovenske železnice, SŽ). The locomotives are a GM-EMD design, assembled under license by Đuro Đaković (company), Đuro Đaković in 1984. History They were designed by Electro-Motive Diesel from the USA as type G 26 HW-2 and assembled by Đuro Đaković in 1984 and 1985. The first two locomotives were taken over by ŽGP Ljubljana and put into regular operation on 5 November 1984. Eight locomotives were awarded for the towing section in Divača, and twelve for the Maribor draw. It is intended for towing heavy freight and passenger trains on non-electrified lines in Styria, Dolenjska, Istria and The Isonzo Corridor. Armoured Train
An armoured train is a railway train protected with armour. Armoured trains usually include railway wagons armed with artillery, machine guns and autocannons. Some also had slits used to fire small arms from the inside of the train, a facility especially prevalent in earlier armoured trains. For the most part they were used during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when they offered an innovative way to quickly move large amounts of firepower. Most countries discontinued their use – road vehicles became much more powerful and offered more flexibility, and train tracks proved too vulnerable to sabotage and attacks from the air. Krajina Express
The Krajina Express ( sr, Крајина експрес) was an improvised armored train used by the Krajina Serb army during the Croatian War of Independence and the Bosnian War, from 1991 to 1995. The main battle in which the train became involved was the Siege of Bihać. The train's crew also performed in combat in the role of infantry. Background The improvisation of weapons was a common feature of all parties involved in the conflict during the breakdown of Yugoslavia in 1991. HŽ Series 2062
The HŽ Series 2062 is a class of diesel-electric locomotives belonging to Croatian Railways ( hr, hrvatske željeznice, HŽ). They are examples of the EMD G26 locomotive series. Prior to the breakup of Yugoslavia, when in use with JŽ these locos were classified as JŽ 664-0. Of the original 64 JŽ locomotives, 56 found their way to HŽ, with the remainder in use with ŽS. HŽ have modernised 20 class 2062s, reclassifying them as 2062-1s. The work was carried out by Gredelj & Turner. The main usage for 2062s is in Lika, Dalmatia, Istria with a few in Slavonia. The -1 subclass is used only on Lika-Dalmatia services.
