Jüri Jaakson
Jüri Jaakson Cross of Liberty (Estonia), VR III/1 ( in Karula, Viljandi County, Karula, Kreis Fellin, Governorate of Livonia, Livonia, Russian Empire – 20 April 1942 in Serovsky District, Sosva, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Soviet Union) was an Estonian businessman and politician. Life and career Jaakson studied in H. Treffner's Private High School and studied law at Tartu University from 1892 to 1896. He graduated with a 1st degree diploma (simple graduation). In 1897-1914 he worked as lawyer firstly in Viljandi, and later in Riga. In 1915-1919, Jaakson was a member of the Board of the Tallinn City Bank (''Tallinna Linnapank''). Jaakson was a member and Assistant Chairman of the Estonian Provincial Assembly (''Eesti Maapäev'') in 1917–1918. Friedrich Akel
Friedrich Karl Akel ( in Kaubi Manor, Kaubi Parish (now in Pornuse village, Mulgi Parish) – 3 July 1941 in Tallinn) was an Estonian diplomat and politician, a member of the International Olympic Committee, and Head of State of Estonia in 1924. Akel attended the Alexander Gymnasium in Tartu, and studied in the department of medicine of Tartu University in 1892–1897. He was an assistant in the Tartu University Clinic, a doctor in the Reimers ophthalmology clinic in Riga, 1899–1901 a doctor in the Ujazdov hospital in Warsaw. In 1901, he studied in Berlin, Prague and Leipzig. Akel worked a private ophthalmologist in Tallinn, and in 1907 he was one of the founders of the Private Clinic of Estonian Physicians. In 1912 he founded his own eye clinic. In 1904–1905 he was in the Russo-Japanese war as a physician. Ülo Kaevats
Ülo Kaevats (29 September 1947 – 30 January 2015) was an Estonian statesman, academic and philosopher. In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry of the University of Tartu with a qualification from a physicist and a research philosopher. Kaevats obtained a PhD from Vilnius State University in Lithuania. He served for many years (1989–1992, 1995–2000) as editor-in-chief of the Estonian Encyclopaedia, the main national work of reference; earlier, he worked as a research fellow at the Estonian and the USSR Academies of Sciences, mostly in the History of Science field. The Order of the Cross of the Eagle ( et, Kotkaristi teenetemärk; french: Ordre de la Croix de l'Aigle) was instituted in 1928 by the Estonian Defence League to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Estonian independence.
