Järviseutu is a subdivision of Southern Ostrobothnia and one of the Sub-regions of Finland since 2009. Municipalities * Alajärvi * Evijärvi * Lappajärvi * Soini * Vimpeli Changes Three changes happened to this sub-region in January 1, 2009: *Kortesjärvi left the sub-region as it was consolidated with Kauhava. *Lehtimäki, formerly a part of the Kuusiokunnat sub-region, was consolidated with Alajärvi. *Soini joined the sub-region. Dialects The dialects of the municipalities in the sub-region are very similar to each other. They are considered Savonian dialects, however they lack many characteristic features associated with Savonian speech. These dialects are fairly similar to standard Finnish. A similar dialect is also used in Ähtäri, Keuruu and Pihlajavesi. Kuusiokunnat
Kuusiokunnat is a subdivision of Southern Ostrobothnia and one of the Sub-regions of Finland since 2009. The name means "six municipalities", which refers to how many municipalities there were in the sub-region when it was established. Nowadays it only contains three municipalities. Lappajärvi is a municipality in Finland in Southern Ostrobothnia region. It is from Lappajärvi to Seinäjoki, to Kokkola and to Vaasa. Savonian Dialects
The Savonian dialects (also called Savo Finnish)( fi, Savolaismurteet) are forms of the Finnish language spoken in Savonia and other parts of Eastern Finland. Finnish dialects are grouped broadly into Eastern and Western varieties; Savonian dialects are of the Eastern variety. Savonian dialects are the most widely distributed Finnish dialect group (setting aside the higher-level east/west split mentioned above). They are spoken in the Savonia region (in both North and South Savo), but also in North Karelia, parts of Päijät-Häme, Central Finland, Kainuu, Koillismaa district of Northern Ostrobothnia, the lake section between Southern and Central Ostrobothnia as far north as Evijärvi and in the municipalities of Pudasjärvi and the Southern part of Ranua in Lapland. Vimpeli
Vimpeli (; sv, Vindala) is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the South Ostrobothnia region, northeast of Seinäjoki and northwest of Jyväskylä. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The most significant road connection in the municipality is the main road 68 between towns of Virrat and Jakobstad. Vimpeli was crucial in the Winter War due to its ski-factory that created over half of the skis used in the war. In sport, Vimpeli is known for the success of its Finnish baseball team, Vimpelin Veto, which won gold in the 2010, 2016 and 2017 seasons in the Finnish championships. South Ostrobothnia ( fi, Etelä-Pohjanmaa; sv, Södra Österbotten) is one of the 19 regions of Finland. 2018 Finnish Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Finland on 28 January 2018. The incumbent Sauli Niinistö received 62.7% of the vote and was elected for a second term, avoiding a Two-round system, second round. The term is from 1 March 2018 to 1 February 2024 (if 2024 presidential election doesn't go to a second ballot) or 1 March 2024. Although the President is elected by direct election, Niinistö gained a plurality in all Municipalities of Finland, municipalities and a majority in all but 13 municipalities. Tuula Haatainen
Tuula Irmeli Haatainen (born 11 February 1960) is a Finnish politician and a member of the Finnish Parliament, with the Social Democratic Party. She was the Minister of Education 2003–2005 and the Minister of Social Affairs and Health 2005–2007. In 2007 Haatainen was chosen as the Deputy Mayor of Helsinki and she left the parliament. She returned to the parliament following the 2015 elections, in which she received 6,662 personal votes. On 2 September 2017, Haatainen was nominated as the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in 2018 presidential election.
