Justin Rasmussen
Justin Rasmussen (born December 15, 1998) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a left-back for USL Championship side Oakland Roots. Youth and college Rasmussen played high school soccer at Bishop Gorman High School, where he was named Nevada State Offensive MVP two years in a row and high school Offensive Player of the Year. In 2016, he was named second team All-Star, and as a senior was named to the Class 4A All-Southern Nevada team. Rasmussen also played club soccer with the Las Vegas Sports Academy. In 2017, Rasmussen attended Grand Canyon University to play college soccer. In four seasons with the Antelopes, Rasmussen made 55 appearances, scoring 16 goals and tallying ten assists. In his senior year, Rasmussen recorded nine goals and six assists for a team-best 24 points, earning WAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and All-WAC First Team honors. The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually by the Missouri Athletic Club to the United States's top men's and women's college soccer players. MLS Next Pro is a men's professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that is affiliated with Major League Soccer. It launched in 2022 with 21 teams and will expand to 28 in 2023. The league comprises 27 reserve sides for MLS clubs and the independent Rochester New York FC. MLS Next Pro is classified as part of the third tier of the United States soccer league system. The 2022 MLS Next Pro season is the inaugural season of MLS Next Pro, the reserve league of Major League Soccer. It is the first season since 2014 where MLS had a standalone reserve league, the previous season being the MLS Reserve League. The 2023 Portland Timbers season was the 37th season in their existence and the 13th season for the Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top-flight professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. Background Season review February On February 27, Portland hosted Sporting Kansas City for the home opener after a postponed match that was set for Saturday 25 due to heavy snow and ice. The 2022 MLS SuperDraft was the 23rd edition of the SuperDraft conducted by Major League Soccer. The SuperDraft is held every January prior to the start of the MLS season and has been conducted via conference calls since 2020. Previously, the SuperDraft had been held in conjunction with the annual January United Soccer Coaches convention. Since 2021, the SuperDraft consists of three rounds. Teams that received fourth-round picks for this draft via past trades received compensatory picks instead.
