Justin James (music Producer)
Justin James Warnock, commonly known by his stage name Justin James (born May 7, 1975), is a Canadian electronic musician, DJ, educator and label owner. He has become an influential part of Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan’s Techno scenes. He is best known for his work with Richie Hawtin’s "Minus" records and Dubfire’s "Sci+Tec" record label, as well for his DJing techno sets making use of laptop computers and digital mixing equipment. In May 2014, James founded his own record label, Refused. Early life James was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and at the age of two moved to Amherstburg, Ontario, a suburb of across the river from Detroit, the birthplace of techno. His father, James, worked as a manager at Chrysler and his mother, Marie-Claire, worked in various financial institutions. He has one sister, Nicole, who is a teacher. Minus (record Label)
Minus or M-nus is a recording label based in Berlin, Germany and Windsor, Canada. It was created in 1998 by Richie Hawtin when Plus 8, a label previously created by Hawtin, was put on hold. By 2005, M-nus was releasing 2 to 3 CDs and 12 to 14 records per year. As Hawtin said of the scaling down to a smaller label, "''You learn better who you are, what you are, and how to better present that and present it creatively. Richie Hawtin
Richard "Richie" Hawtin (born June 4, 1970) is a British-Canadian electronic musician and DJ. He became involved with Detroit techno's second wave in the early 1990s, and has been a leading exponent of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. He became known for his recordings under the Plastikman and F.U.S.E. aliases. Under the latter, he released his debut album ''Dimension Intrusion'' (1993) as part of Warp's Artificial Intelligence series. In May 1990, Hawtin and John Acquaviva founded the Plus 8 record label, which they named after their turntable's pitch adjust function. In 1998, Hawtin launched M-nus Records. From 2012-2015, Hawtin held the ENTER. Ibiza weekly party at Space in Ibiza. Dubfire
Ali Shirazinia ( fa, علی شیرازینیا), commonly known by his stage name Dubfire, is an Iranian American house and techno DJ and producer. Prior to his solo career, Dubfire made up half of the duo Deep Dish. Dubfire's style is noticeably different from that of Deep Dish, consisting of techno rather than progressive house. Biography Dubfire was born in Iran and moved to the United States at the age of 7 with his father, mother and brother for his father to attend an American university.
