Justan I Ibn Marzuban I
Justan I ibn Marzuban (died 960) was the Sallarid ruler of Azerbaijan (957–960). He was the son and successor of Marzuban ibn Muhammad. Biography Marzuban ibn Muhammad had designated his brother Wahsudan ibn Muhammad as his successor. When he came to Azerbaijan, however, the commanders of the fortresses refused to surrender to him, recognizing instead Marzuban's son Justan I ibn Marzuban I as his successor. Unable to establish his rule in the province, Wahusdan returned to Tarum; Justan was recognized as ruler in Azerbaijan, with his brother Ibrahim I ibn Marzuban I made governor of Dvin. Justan seems to have been interested primarily in his harem, a fact which alienated some of his supporters, although he and Ibrahim successfully put down a revolt by a grandson of the caliph al-Muktafi in 960. Justan III
Justan III was the sixth king of the Justanid dynasty, ruling from 865 to 919. He was the brother and successor of Khurshid of Dailam. Biography Justan is first mentioned in 865, when he was placed on the Justanid throne by his suzerain, the Alid ruler Hasan ibn Zayd, who had deposed Justan's brother Khurshid because of his hostility towards the Alids. In 866/7, Justan fought against the Abbasid governor of Ray, 'Abd-Allah ibn 'Aziz. Justan eventually won, killing and capturing many inhabitants of the city. Justan later agreed to leave the city after having been paid 2,000,000 dirhams. In 869, the Abbasid military officer Muflih al-Turki invaded Tabaristan, and defeated Justan at the nearby city of Qazvin. Fortunately for the Alids, however, Muflih shortly left the region. Justann Crawford
Justann John Crawford (born July 24, 1973) is a retired indigenous Australian Olympic boxer. Justann earned 9 international gold medals and represented Australia at the 1992, 1996 Olympic Games and 1994 Commonwealth Games. He also held 9 Australian boxing titles mainly in the middleweight division, or in the light heavyweight division. Justann Crawford's boxing career was cut short because of an eye injury and mild brain damage in 1998 at age 25. However, he was one of the first few indigenous Australians to compete in the Olympic Games. His commitment to boxing has put him in the Aboriginal and Islander Sports Hall of Fame to recognise his multiple international titles in representing Australia as an aboriginal. Kurkir Ibn Justan
Kurkir ibn Justan ( fa, ک کرمنتحقیق بن جو استن) was an Iranian military officer, a Daylamite military officer of the Buyids, who served as the chief captain of the army of Kirman from 968 until his downfall in 972. Biography He is first mentioned in 968, when he was appointed as the chief captain of the army of Kirman by the Buyid ruler 'Adud al-Dawla. In ca. 970, was sent on an expedition against the Ilyasid rebel Sulaiman ibn Muhammad; the outcome was positive for the Buyids - Kurkir managed to defeat and kill the rebel, including of his nephews, Bakr and al-Husain. Kurkir then had their heads sent to 'Adud al-Dawla, who was Shiraz. However, the natives of Kirman continued to resist Kurkir, who was shortly reinforced by an army under 'Abid ibn 'Ali. They then marched towards Jiroft, and fought the rebels on December 13, which resulted in victory for the Buyids, and the death of several leading figures of the rebellion.
