Ljudevit Jurak
Ljudevit Jurak (October 6, 1881 – June 9, 1945) was a Croatian professor of pathology who was executed by the Yugoslav government for his research into the Vinnytsia massacre. Jurak was born in Zalug near Hum na Sutli. He studied medicine at the University of Innsbruck where he graduated in 1910. In 1914 Jurak came to Zagreb where he led the Department of Pathology at the Sisters of Charity Hospital, a post he held until his death. In 1915 Jurak and German physician Felix Gaisbock published a paper in a renowned journal Zentralblatt für Herz- und Gefässkrankheiten in which they described both Lev's and Legendre's disease half a century before its contemporaries. Jurak collaborated on Mate Ujević's '' Croatian Encyclopedia''. In 1943, Jurak was among those invited by the International Committee of the Red Cross to take part in an investigation into the massacre of ethnic Ukrainians at Vinnytsia in the 1930s. Ed Jurak
Edward James Jurak (born October 24, 1957) is an American retired baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball for parts of six seasons, from 1982 through 1989. Jurak played for the Boston Red Sox from 1982 to 1985, the Oakland Athletics in 1988 and the San Francisco Giants in 1989. After Boston released him in spring training of 1986, he played on the independent San Jose Bees of the California League that season. Jurak spent 1987 in the minor leagues for the Texas Rangers organization before returning to the big leagues in 1988. One of the finest moments of Jurak's career occurred during the Triple A All Star game in 1988. The game was nationally televised as a way to introduce the baseball audience to the best prospects in the sport. Darija Jurak Schreiber (née Jurak; ; born 5 April 1984) is a Croatian professional tennis player. Her career-high doubles ranking is world No. 9, achieved on 15 November 2021. Her best WTA ranking in singles of 188 she reached in April 2004. World TeamTennis Jurak has played six seasons with World TeamTennis and was part of the 2016 San Diego Aviators team which hoisted the King Cup after winning the WTT Championships. She debuted in 2013 with the Texas Wild returning in 2014. She played her next three seasons with the Aviators from 2015 to 2017. Drago Jurak
Drago Jurak (17 January 1911 – 1 January 1994) was a Croatian painter who was active during the time of Yugoslavia. His works can be found at the Croatian Museum of Naïve Art in Zagreb. Jurak was schooled for a wheelwright A wheelwright is a craftsman who builds or repairs wooden wheels. The word is the combination of "wheel" and the word "wright", (which comes from the Old English word "''wryhta''", meaning a worker or shaper of wood) as in shipwright and arkwr ..., then worked as a scenographer and carpenter at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb from 1938 to his retirement in 1971. In his free time, he made wooden models of buildings and reliefs using different materials. He started drawing and painting in the 1960s under mentorship of Krsto Hegedušić, and started exhibiting his works in 1967.
