"Jungle Fever" is a 1971 track performed by Belgian producers The Chakachas, written by pianist and arranger Willy Albimoor (as Bill Ador) and first issued in Belgium by Swineyard, an independent record label. Chart performance The song reached #8 in the 1972 United States ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and peaked at #29 in the United Kingdom. "Jungle Fever" was banned by the BBC, who took exception to the song's heavy breathing and moaning. The song was a greater success in America, selling over one million copies and being awarded a gold disc by the R.I.A.A. in March 1972. ''Billboard'' ranked it as the #51 song for 1972. In other media "Jungle Fever" was featured in the 1997 film ''Boogie Nights'' as well as the 2004 videogame '' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas'', on the fictional radio station Master Sounds 98.3. The Chakachas
The Chakachas were a Belgium-based group of Latin soul studio musicians. Also known as Les Chakachas, Los Chakachas, or Los Chicles, they were formed by bandleader Gaston Bogaerts, percussion (conga and tumba); Kari Kenton, vocals and maracas; Vic Ingeveldt (a Dutchman from Liège), saxophone; Charlie Lots, trumpet; Christian Marc, piano; Henri Breyre, guitar and backing vocals; and Bill Raymond, bass guitar. All were native to Schaerbeek (a district of Brussels), or nearby Charleroi, Willebroek and Liège. History They started out in the late 1950s as cha-cha-cha band, and had a Belgian No. 1 in 1958 with "Eso es el amor", which was sung in Spanish. In 1959 they recorded "Rebecca" (a.k.a. 2 Live Crew is an American hip hop music, hip hop group from Miami, Florida, which had its greatest commercial success from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. The Delegates were a novelty song group who scored a hit record, "Convention '72". Creation The Delegates were the creation of Bob DeCarlo, morning disc jockey at KQV in Pittsburgh. Bob was approached by local record moguls Nick Cenci and Nick Kousaleous, to make a novelty record; the trio assembled "Convention '72," a "break-in" record which consisted of Bob imitating such TV reporters as Walter Cronkite ("Walter Klondike"), Chet Huntley ("Sidney Bruntley" as a flamboyantly gay reporter), David Brinkley ("David Stinkley"), and Harry Reasoner ("Larry Reasoning").
