Julian Sas
Julian Sas (born 29 May 1970) is a Dutch blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He has released almost 20 studio albums since 1996, with the most recent being the double CD release, ''Electracoustic'' on Cavalier Records. Life and career He was born in Beneden-Leeuwen, Netherlands, on a boat on the river Waal, and spent his early years living on a vessel moored there. When Sas was six years old, he saw Chuck Berry perform on television and Sas dreamt about owning a guitar. Later when he was eleven, he viewed Jimi Hendrix via the same medium and, after persisent asking, was given a guitar of his own a year later. He began to play in bands at the age of 13 as a singer and guitarist, but had to be content with jamming and backing a few older blues musicians before forming his own ensemble late in 1994. Beneden-Leeuwen
Beneden-Leeuwen is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of West Maas en Waal, and lies about 7 km east of Tiel, on the opposite (southern) bank of the river Waal. Beneden-Leeuwen has 6,925 inhabitants on 1 July 2021. It is the Catholic part of the former village Leeuwen. History It was first called Beneden-Leeuwen in 1986 to distinguish from Boven-Leeuwen. Leeuwen was first attested in the 12th century as Lewen, and means "settlement near burial hill". The village developed along the Waal. In 1898, a Catholic Church was built in Beneden-Leeuwen, and the village split in a Catholic (beneden) and a Protestant (boven) village. Spakenburg
Spakenburg is a Dutch village north of Bunschoten. Spakenburg is formally called Bunschoten-Spakenburg since its fusion with Bunschoten. The village lies south of the IJsselmeer in the municipality Bunschoten, Utrecht province, Utrecht. It is one of the few places left in the Netherlands where some women still wear local traditional clothes. In the 20th century, the two villages have grown quickly, and since about 1965 they form one single town, officially named Bunschoten. The Association football, football teams IJsselmeervogels and SV Spakenburg are located there, and contest one of the most popular local rivalries in Dutch amateur football. Gerry McAvoy
John Gerard McAvoy (born 19 December 1951) is a Northern Irish blues rock bass guitarist. He played with blues rock musician Rory Gallagher between 1970 and 1991, and then with Nine Below Zero until 2011. Biography McAvoy was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 19 December 1951. In his youth, he enjoyed listening to his sister's collection of Buddy Holly, Beatles and Rolling Stones records. Aged 13, he bought a second-hand Muddy Waters album in a Belfast record store and later said it "changed my life". He began playing in bands soon afterwards, initially on rhythm guitar before switching to bass. He later joined the band Deep Joy, playing Motown and 60s pop covers. During his tenure in the band he first played with drummer Brendan O'Neill, who was later to tour with Rory Gallagher and appear on his last three albums ''Jinx'', '' Defender'' and ''Fresh Evidence''.
