Julian Daan
Julian Bacus Daan (February 15, 1945 – August 21, 2019), popularly known as Esteban "Teban" Escudero after a character he played in a radio drama, was a Filipino Cebuano film, local TV, stage, and radio writer, director, actor, comedian, and politician from Cebu, Philippines. He served six terms as member of the Cebu Provincial Board representing the first legislative district. He was serving his second term as councilman for Talisay City at the time of his death. Personal life Daan came from a poor background and attained elementary education. He worked at the ship dock as a tally man and as a laborer in a beverage box-making company. He was married in 1969 to Yolanda Daan, also an elected provincial board member, and had two sons named Lester and Rodel. Cebuano Culture
The Cebuano people ( ceb, Mga Sugbuanon) are the largest subgroup of the larger ethnolingustic group Visayans, who constitute the largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group in the country. Their primary language is the Cebuano language, an Austronesian language. They originated in the province of Cebu in the region of Central Visayas, but then later spread out to other places in the Philippines, such as Siquijor, Bohol, Negros Oriental, southwestern Leyte, western Samar, Masbate, and large parts of Mindanao. It may also refer to the ethnic group who speak the same language as their native tongue in different parts of the archipelago. Ernesto Degumbis Lariosa, also known as Nyor Erning, (December 11, 1944 – August 20, 2019) was a Filipino Visayan writer, poet, and columnist from Cebu, Philippines and a three-time Palanca awardee in Cebuano short story. In 2003, he was recognized by the Cebu City government as the "Vanguard of Cebuano Literature". Personal life Lariosa was born in Tabionan, a mountainous area in San Fernando, Cebu on December 11, 1944, and grew up in the neighboring town of Panadtaran where his family settled after World War II. He earned bachelor's degrees, a degree in law, and a degree in education major in English and history from Southwestern University. Archdiocesan Shrine Of Santa Teresa De Avila
The Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Teresa de Avila, previously known as Santa Teresa de Avila Church, is a Roman Catholic church located in Talisay, Cebu, Philippines. Built in 1836 until 1848, architecturally, the church is in classical Graeco-Roman style, featuring the facade's two bell towers connected by a porch with two supporting columns on the foyer. On October 15, 2007, it was declared an archdiocesan shrine and pilgrims could receive plenary indulgence for a year. Design The church was made from coral stones and contained embellished interiors and five gilded altars. Its original design was cruciform with two semicircular transepts and the twin belfries on each side of the façade, with a connecting balustraded portico that is supported by two columns on the main entrance, are its prominent feature. Teofilo Camomot
Teofilo Bastida Camomot (3 March 1914 – 27 September 1988) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop from the Philippines. Ordained a diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Cebu on 14 December 1941, he was eventually appointed an auxiliary bishop on 23 March 1955 and receiving the titular see of Clysma. He became coadjutor archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro on 10 June 1958, becoming titular bishop, titular archbishop of Marcianopolis. While waiting for then-archbishop James Hayes (bishop), James Hayes to retire, Camomot resigned for health reasons on 17 June 1970.
