Julia Wu (table Tennis)
Julia Wu is a right-handed table tennis player from New Zealand who has represented New Zealand and Oceania in a number of international championships, including the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics held in Singapore and the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju. She plays with a shakehand grip. In the 2009 ASB Young Sports Person of the Year Awards, Wu was a finalist in the Girls Table Tennis section. Sporting career Wu was professionally trained in Auckland, where she was part of the high performance programme within the Auckland Table Tennis Association. When asked about representing New Zealand, she replied: "It means a lot – I would've never thought that I would have made it but I did, so I am extremely happy to be part of the team." Table Tennis
Table tennis, also known as ping-pong and whiff-whaff, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight ball, also known as the ping-pong ball, back and forth across a table using small solid rackets. It takes place on a hard table divided by a net. Except for the initial serve, the rules are generally as follows: Players must allow a ball played toward them to bounce once on their side of the table and must return it so that it bounces on the opposite side. A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball within the rules. Play is fast and demands quick reactions. Spinning the ball alters its trajectory and limits an opponent's options, giving the hitter a great advantage. The Oceania Table Tennis Championships is a biennial table tennis tournament held by Oceania Table Tennis Federation (OTTF). Between 1996 and 2010, the tournament was held in conjunction with Oceania Junior Table Tennis Championships. World Junior Table Tennis Championships
The ITTF World Youth Championships is an annual table tennis competition for juniors under 19 and under 15. From 2003 to 2019, the World Junior Table Tennis Championships was held for juniors under 18. The ITTF changed the U18 age group into U19 in 2020, and implemented the new World Youth Championships for U19 and U15 in 2021. The World Youth Championships is currently composed of two team events and five individual events in each of the U19 and U15 age groups. Table Tennis At The 2010 Summer Youth Olympics
The table tennis competition at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics took place in Singapore Indoor Stadium between 21 and 26 August, with training hall set in National University of Singapore (NUS). 64 athletes composed of 32 boys and 32 girls at the age between 14 and 16 (born between 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1995) competed in different events of Men's Singles and Women's Singles. Further, each athlete paired with another athlete of the opposite sex participated in Mixed Team event. Each team match consisted of the best of three matches.
