Jules Feller
Jules Feller (4 November 1859 – 29 April 1940) was a Belgian academician and Walloon militant. Biography Jules Feller created the of spelling for the Walloon language. This is also used for writing the Picard language since a consensus arose between universities in favour of the written form known as ''Feller-Carton'' (based on the Walloon spelling system – which was developed by Feller and adapted for Picard by Prof. Fernand Carton). Verviers
Verviers (; wa, Vervî) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. Picard Language
Picard (, also , ) is a ''langue d'oïl'' of the Romance language family spoken in the northernmost part of France and Hainaut province in Belgium. Administratively, this area is divided between the French Hauts-de-France region and the Belgian Wallonia along the border between both countries due to its traditional core being the districts of Tournai and Mons ( Walloon Picardy). Fernand Carton (4 September 1921 – 16 November 2019) was a French linguist who specialized in Picardic dialects. Biography After passing the Agrégation de Lettres classiques exams in 1958, Carton published numerous articles in the field of phonetics. He became a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and President of the Language Sciences section of the national committee of the French National Centre for Scientific Research.
