Juguang, Lienchiang
Juguang Township / Jyuguang Township (; Foochow Romanized: Gṳ̄-guŏng-hiŏng), also spelled Chukuang, is a rural township of Lienchiang County (the Matsu Islands), Republic of China (Taiwan). Juguang Township includes two major islands, Dongju Island ( "East Ju"; Dĕ̤ng-gṳ̄) and Xiju Island ( "West Ju"; Să̤-gṳ̄), as well as some islets. Name On October 15, 1971, the Executive Yuan approved changing the name of the township from Baiquan Township (Paichuan, White Dogs; ) to Juguang Township (Chukuang; ). They also approved changing the name of Xiquan Island (Hsichuan; ) to Xiju Island (Hsiju; ) and Dongquan Island (Tungchuan; ) to Dongju Island (Tungchu; ). The islands were renamed based on a quote of a speech by Chiang Kai-shek, "forget not that you're in Ju" (; Wú wàng zài Jǔ; Ù uông câi Gṳ̄). Township (Taiwan)
Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Under townships, there is still the village as the fourth or basic level of administration. Fuzhou (; , Fuzhounese: Hokchew, ''Hók-ciŭ''), alternately romanized as Foochow, is the capital and one of the largest cities in Fujian province, China. Along with the many counties of Ningde, those of Fuzhou are considered to constitute the Mindong (lit. Eastern Fujian) linguistic and cultural area. Changle
(, Foochow Romanized: Diòng-lŏ̤h) is one of 6 District (China), urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian, Fujian Province, China. It occupies a land area of and a sea area of . Changle was established in the sixth year of Emperor Wude (623 AD) during the Tang Dynasty, and it became a county-level city on February 18, 1994. Dongquan Lighthouse
The Dongquan Lighthouse () or Dongju Island Lighthouse () is a lighthouse on Dongju Island, Juguang Township, Lienchiang County, Fujian Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). History The lighthouse was built by the British Empire in 1872 to guide ships to Fuzhou during the Qing Dynasty when they were forced to open up along with four other treaty ports for trading. It was designated as a second-grade historic site in 1988 by the Ministry of the Interior. Until 2013, the lighthouse came under the administration of Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance before it was changed to Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
