Judah Johnson
Judah Johnson is an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan. History Judah Johnson formed in 1999 and first began recording in the summer of 2000 with Don Dixon. After touring regionally, they released their debut EP on Flameshovel Records in 2001. Following a series of lineup changes in early 2002, the band began recording material for a full-length in the summer of that year. The LP ''Kisses and Interrogation'' was released in 2003, and in 2006 a follow-up full-length, ''Be Where I Be'', was issued. , October 17, 2006. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Flameshovel Records is a record label from Chicago, Illinois formed in the summer of 2000. Founded by Jesse Woghin and long-time friend Nash Grey, the duo were later joined by James Kenler. Grey left for Philadelphia in 2003 to start grad school but the remaining partners forged ahead. The label has since put out 43 releases, including releases by Maritime, Chin Up Chin Up, Lying in States, and Bound Stems. As of December 5, 2010, the label had not released an album since September 2007. Don Dixon (musician)
Don Dixon (born December 13, 1950) is an American record producer, songwriter, and musician. He is considered to be one of the key producers of what is called the jangle pop movement of the early 1980s, including working with R.E.M. and The Smithereens. Early life Dixon was born in Lancaster, South Carolina. He says he learned to play the bass guitar in junior high school "because of the control that it offered". He said, "I bought a bass, one of those great Danelectro Silvertones, and I wish I had it back. From Sears for $79. Then a few months later I really liked upright, so I found an old upright in a church in Charlotte, and just was sort of self-taught on those things, but I could read music." At the age of fifteen, he made his first recording, playing upright bass with jazz musician Louis McGloughn in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also sang in church.
