Jubilee Oil Field
The Jubilee Oil Field is an oil field located off the coast of the Ghana's Western Region in the South Atlantic Ocean under the ownership of the Kosmos Energy, Occidental Petroleum and the Tullow Oil. The Jubilee field is located 60 km offshore, between the Deepwater Tano and West Cape Three Points blocks off the coast of the Ghana's Western Region in Ghana. History Jubilee offshore oilfield was discovered in 2007 by Kosmos Energy and developed by Tullow Oil. Equity partners of the Deepwater Tano block are Tullow with 49.95%, Kosmos with 18%, Oxy with 18%, PetroSA Ghana with 4.05%, and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) with 10%. West Cape Three Points is held by Tullow with 22.9%, Kosmos with 30.88%, Oxy with 30.88%, PetroSA Ghana with 1.85%, GNPC with 10%, and EO Group with 3.5%. Western Region (Ghana)
The Western Region is located in south Ghana, spreads from the Ivory Coast ( Comoé District) in the west to the Central region in the east, includes the capital and large twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi on the coast, coastal Axim, and a hilly inland area including Elubo. Its main activities are the extraction of natural gas from offshore fields about 89 km from Mossel Bay, the production of synthetic fuels from this gas through a gas to liquids (GTL) process, and the extraction of crude oil from oil fields off the South Coast of South Africa. Oil Field
A petroleum reservoir or oil and gas reservoir is a subsurface accumulation of hydrocarbons contained in porous or fractured rock formations. Such reservoirs form when kerogen (ancient plant matter) is created in surrounding rock by the presence of high heat and pressure in the Earth's crust. Petroleum reservoirs are broadly classified as ''conventional'' and '' unconventional'' reservoirs. In conventional reservoirs, the naturally occurring hydrocarbons, such as crude oil or natural gas, are trapped by overlying rock formations with lower permeability, while in unconventional reservoirs, the rocks have high porosity and low permeability, which keeps the hydrocarbons trapped in place, therefore not requiring a cap rock. The FPSO ''Kwame Nkrumah'' is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It operates in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of Ghana. She is named after the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah. History VLCC tanker ''Tohdoh'' was built by Mitsui Eng. & Shipbuilding Co.,Ltd. in 1991. She was owned and operated by NYK Line. In 2008, she was sold to MODEC for US$42.5 million. MODEC renamed the ship ''Ohdoh'' and started her conversion into FPSO vessel. Conversion was done by SembCorp Marine at the Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. Proven Reserves
Proven reserves (also called measured reserves, 1P, and reserves) is a measure of fossil fuel energy reserves, such as oil reserves, natural gas reserves, and coal reserves. It is defined as the " antity of energy sources estimated with reasonable certainty, from the analysis of geologic and engineering data, to be recoverable from well established or known reservoirs with the existing equipment and under the existing operating conditions." A reserve is considered proven if it is probable that at least 90% of the resource is recoverable by economically profitable means. Operating conditions are taken into account when determining if a reserve is classified as proven.
