The Story Bridge is a heritage-listed steel cantilever bridge spanning the Brisbane River that carries vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the northern and the southern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is the longest cantilever bridge in Australia. The road across the bridge is named Bradfield Highway. The bridge connects Fortitude Valley to Kangaroo Point. Jubilee Bridge, Southport
The Jubilee Bridge (1925–1966) was a bridge across the Nerang River in South East Queensland, Australia. The bridge connected the suburbs of Southport to Main Beach on the Gold Coast, providing the first road connection to Surfers Paradise. It facilitated the development of the Gold Coast beach suburbs and holiday resorts. History In 1887, German immigrant Johann Meyer operated a ferry across the Nerang River. From Southport, travellers would follow the Meyer's Ferry Road (now Ferry Road and Bundall Road) to a spit of land that created a narrow point in the river (). The narrow spit is no longer in existence due to changes in the river and the creation of Chevron Island but was in the vicinity of the Gold Coast Arts Centre. The Jubilee Bridge ( bn, জুবিলি ব্রিজ) is a former rail bridge over the Hooghly River between Naihati and Bandel in West Bengal, India. It provided an important connection between Garifa railway station and Hooghly Ghat railway station. The Jubilee Bridge was opened on 16 February 1885 in the fiftieth, or golden jubilee, year of the reign of Queen Victoria. Construction began in 1882 and was completed in 1887. The Silver Jubilee Railway Bridge Bharuch is a railway bridge over the Narmada River in India, located between the Ankleshwar Junction and Bharuch Junction railway stations. The Hungerford Bridge crosses the River Thames in London, and lies between Waterloo Bridge and Westminster Bridge. Owned by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd (who use its official name of Charing Cross Bridge) it is a steel truss railway bridge flanked by two more recent, cable-stayed, pedestrian bridges that share the railway bridge's foundation piers, and which are named the Golden Jubilee Bridges. Walney Bridge
Walney Bridge, officially Jubilee Bridge, is a bascule bridge in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England. Completed in 1908, it spans Walney Channel, linking Barrow Island to Walney Island. The bridge carries the A590 trunk road, which has its western terminus on Walney. History Talks began in 1897 to how feasible the construction of a bridge connecting Barrow to Walney would be. At the time, Walney residents were frustrated by the fact that they had to use a ferry to traverse the Walney Channel, and they also saw it as an opportunity to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. When the bridge was finally approved many companies fought for the building contract, with Sir William Arrol & Co. winning it. The Jubilee Bridge is a road and pedestrian/cycle bridge carrying the Queen Elizabeth Way north-south across the River Tees in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, northern England. It links Preston-on-Tees with Ingleby Barwick. The bridge is over upriver from, and over approximately south of Stockton town centre. Jubilee Bridge (Queensferry)
The Jubilee Bridge (also known as the Blue Bridge) is a double leaf rolling bascule bridge which spans the River Dee at Queensferry, Wales. History The bridge was built by Sir William Arrol & Co. between 1925 and 1927. It takes its name from an earlier bridge on the same site which was completed during the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. The abutments of the old bridge are still visible at both sides to the left (facing north) of the current bridge. The remains can be seen at low tide near the abutments. By the 1960s shipping had ceased on the River Dee. The bridge's lifting mechanism was removed and the roadway fixed permanently in place. Jubilee Bridge, Singapore
Jubilee Bridge is a pedestrian bridge spanning the Singapore River, connecting Merlion Park and The Esplanade. The construction of the bridge was suggested by then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, and was opened ahead of schedule due to his death. History In 2004, while visiting Marina Bay, then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew realised that pedestrians had to walk to Esplanade Bridge to cross the Singapore River, which he believed to be too narrow. Due to this, Jubilee Bridge was designed to run along Esplanade Bridge at a lower and more pedestrian-friendly level. Plans for the bridge were first announced in 2009, and construction began in 2012. The bridge cost $17.7 million and 28 months to build. The bridge was to open in April 2015, but it was unofficially opened on 29 March following the death of Lee Kuan Yew as a final farewell.
