Juan Reynoso Guzmán
Juan Máximo Reynoso Guzmán (born December 28, 1969 in Lima) is a Peruvian professional manager and former footballer. He started his playing career in his native Peru where he played for Alianza Lima from 1986 to 1990. He made over 230 appearances with Cruz Azul where he served as captain and let the team to a historic treble in the 1996–97 season. He later joined Necaxa and retired in 2004 after making playing over 75 games. At the international level Reynoso capped for the Peru, with 84 appearances from 1986 to 2000, serving as captain from 1993 to 1999. He represented the team at five Copa America tournaments in 1987, 1989, 1993, 1995 and 1999. He also captained the team to reach the semi finals of 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup his final tournament. 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup
The 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the fifth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and the 15th overall CONCACAF tournament. It was held in Los Angeles, Miami, and San Diego in the United States. The format of the tournament changed from 1998; it was expanded to twelve teams, split into four groups of three. The top two teams in each group would advance to the quarter-finals. Peru and Colombia were invited from CONMEBOL, and the Republic of Korea were invited from AFC. With all three games in Group D ending in ties and Canada tied with the Republic of Korea on every tiebreaker, a coin toss was used. Canada won and advanced to the quarter-finals. The 1999 Copa América was a football tournament held in Paraguay, from 29 June to 18 July. It was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body. There was no qualifying for the final tournament. Mexico and Japan were invited to take part, with the latter becoming the first team to from outside the Americas to participate in the competition. 1995 Copa América
The 1995 Copa América football tournament was staged in Uruguay. It was won by Uruguay, who beat Brazil 5–3 in the penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw in the final. All 10 CONMEBOL members took part, with Mexico and the United States invited in order to reach 12 teams. The United States were the surprise of the tournament, beating defending champions Argentina 3–0 and winning the group. The United States went on to defeat Mexico on penalties in the second round but then lost to Brazil 1–0 in the semi-finals. They then fell to Colombia 4–1 in the third-place game, finishing fourth overall. In this edition of the tournament, extra time was not played if a match was drawn after 90 minutes. The 1993 Copa América was the 36th Copa América, CONMEBOL's football tournament for national teams. It was held in Ecuador between 15 June and 4 July. All 10 CONMEBOL members took part, but for the first time two nations from outside CONMEBOL were invited to take part in the tournament, to round out the format.
