Juan Pedro Damiani
Juan Pedro Damiani (born June 14, 1958) is a Uruguayan lawyer, and a former member of the FIFA Ethics Committee. Damiani resigned from the FIFA Ethics Committee on 6 April 2016, following allegation in the Panama Papers, connecting him to fellow Uruguayan Eugenio Figueredo, the former FIFA vice-president arrested in 2015 by the United States Department of Justice on corruption charges. FIFA Ethics Committee
The FIFA Ethics Committee is one of FIFA's three judicial bodies. It is organized in two chambers, the ''Investigatory Chamber'' and the ''Adjudicatory Chamber''. Its duties are regulated by several official documents, most importantly the ''FIFA Code of Ethics''. FIFA's other judicial bodies are the ''Disciplinary Committee'' and the ''Appeal Committee''. Investigatory Chamber The Investigatory Chamber's main task is to investigate potential violations of the ''FIFA Code of Ethics''. The Panama Papers ( es, Papeles de Panamá) are 11.5 million leaked documents (or 2.6 terabytes of data) that were published beginning on April 3, 2016. The papers detail financial and attorney–client information for more than 214,488 offshore entities. The documents, some dating back to the 1970s, were created by, and taken from, former Panamanian offshore law firm and corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca. The documents contain personal financial information about wealthy individuals and public officials that had previously been kept private. Eugenio Figueredo
Eugenio Hermes Figueredo Aguerre (born 10 March 1932 in Santa Lucía, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan and American association football executive and former footballer. In May 2015, he was banned by FIFA Ethics Committee. Biography As a footballer, Figueredo played for Huracan Buceo as a right-half. He went on to serve as its president between 1971 and 1972, and again between 1976 and 77. From 1997–2006, he presided over the Uruguayan Football Association, and from 1993 until 2013 he was vice president of CONMEBOL. In April 2013 he replaced Nicolás Leoz as President. On 27 May 2015, Figueredo was arrested in Switzerland as the result of an FBI investigation into corruption in FIFA. In addition, the FIFA Ethics Committee found Figueredo to be guilty of taking bribes in 2004 and 2015 in connection with trade agreements for South American tournaments. Estadio Campeón del Siglo is a football stadium located in Bañados de Carrasco, Montevideo, Uruguay, and the home ground of Peñarol, who plays in the First Division. It has a maximum capacity of 40,000. History Background Projects to own a stadium date back to the 20th century, but never managed to materialize.
