Juan Antonio Quintana
Juan Antonio Quintana (1939 – 15 February 2022) was a Spanish actor. Biography He was born in Zaragoza in 1939. The only son of Juan, a bank clerk, and Felisa, a housewife, he was fond of cinema and theater from an early age. He studied Philosophy and Letters at the University of Zaragoza and the Complutense University of Madrid, University of Madrid. He made his theatrical debut at the age of seventeen, at the University of Zaragoza, with the play ''The Lesson'' by Eugène Ionesco. He finished this eight-year stage as a university actor, participating in the staging of ''Fuenteovejuna'', by Lope de Vega, directed by Alberto Castilla at the Teatro Nacional Universitario in Madrid, which won the Grand Prix du Festival Mondial de Théâtre de Nancy (France). ''The Maidens' Consent'' ( es, El sí de las niñas ) is a play by the Spanish playwright Leandro Fernández de Moratín. It was written in 1801 and first performed in 1806. The play is a satirical commentary on Spanish social norms of the time and has since become part of the repertoire. 37,000 people saw the play performed during the 26 days it ran at Madrid's Teatro de la Cruz, a figure equivalent to around 25% of the population of the Spanish capital during the period. Leandro Fernández de Moratín (; 10 March 1760 – 21 June 1828) was a Spanish dramatist, translator and neoclassical poet. Biography Moratín was born in Madrid the son of Nicolás Fernández de Moratín, a major literary reformer in Spain from 1762 until his death in 1828. Distrusting the teaching offered in Spain's universities at the time, Leandro grew up in the rich literary environment of his father and became an admirer of Enlightenment thought. In addition to translating works of Molière and William Shakespeare into Spanish, he himself was a major poet, dramatist and man of letters whose writings promoted the reformist ideas associated with the Spanish Enlightenment.
