Joëlle Smits
Joëlle Smits (born 7 February 2000) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a striker for Eredivisie club PSV and the Netherlands national team. Club career Smits started her youth career with OJC Rosmalen at the age of six. She spent eight years there playing alongside boys before moving to Brabant United. In 2015, she moved to CTO Eindhoven. In May 2017, Smits signed her first professional contract with Eredivisie club Twente. She made her debut on 1 September in a 3–0 league win against Zwolle. She scored in 58th minute of the game before being replaced by Bente Jansen. She scored 25 goals from 21 league matches during the 2018–19 season to help her club win the league title. In February 2019, it was confirmed that Smits would join PSV prior to the 2019–20 season. FC Twente (women)
FC Twente Vrouwen is the women's football (soccer) section of Dutch club FC Twente based in Enschede, and competes in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's league in the Netherlands. Founded in 2007, it is one of the founding members of the Eredivisie competing in the league since its inaugural season. The 2020–21 Eredivisie Vrouwen is the eleventh season of the Netherlands women's professional football league. Twente started the season as defending champions. Format At the regular season, the eight teams play each other twice (once at home and once away), for a total of 14 matches each. After that the top four teams qualify for a championship play-off and the bottom four teams play a placement play-off. In each play-off, teams played each other twice for a total of 6 matches each. Points accumulated at the regular season are halved and added to the points of the play-off stage rounds. There is no relegation nor promotion in the league and the champion and runner-up qualify for the 2021–22 UEFA Women's Champions League. The 2017–18 Eredivisie Vrouwen was the eight season of the Netherlands women's professional football league. The season took place from 1 September 2017 to 25 May 2018 with nine teams. Sherida Spitse (; born 29 May 1990) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ajax and the Netherlands national team. Club career Spitse started her career at VV Sneek before joining SC Heerenveen when the Dutch women's professional league ( Eredivisie Vrouwen) was established in 2007. After five seasons at Heerenveen where she played 100 official matches and scored 13 goals, in 2012 the Dutch and Belgian leagues merged ( BeNe League) and she moved to FC Twente in May 2012. At Twente she won the BeNe League titles in 2012–13 and 2013–14. She was also the club top scorer in 2012–13. The women's football tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held from 21 July to 6 August 2021. Originally, it was to be held from 22 July to 7 August 2020, but the Summer Olympics were postponed to the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the official name of the games remains the 2020 Summer Olympics. It was the seventh edition of the women's Olympic football tournament. Together with the men's competition, the 2020 Summer Olympics football tournament was held at six stadiums in six cities in Japan. The final was hosted at the International Stadium in Yokohama. There were no player age restrictions for teams participating in the competition. The 2019 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship (also known as UEFA Women's Under-19 Euro 2019) was the 18th edition of the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship (22nd edition if the Under-18 era is included), the annual international youth football championship organised by UEFA for the women's under-19 national teams of Europe.
