FC Twente (women)
FC Twente Vrouwen is the women's football (soccer) section of Dutch club FC Twente based in Enschede, and competes in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's league in the Netherlands. Founded in 2007, it is one of the founding members of the Eredivisie competing in the league since its inaugural season. The club has won eight national championships, two times by winning the BeNe League, and also won the Dutch Cup twice. Its home ground is the Sportpark Slangenbeek in Hengelo with occasional matches (UEFA Women's Champions League knockout stage and other important matches) being played at the De Grolsch Veste. Vera Pauw
Vera Pauw (; born 18 January 1963) is a Dutch Women's association football, football coach and former player. She currently manages the Republic of Ireland women's national football team. She has managed several national women's football teams, including Scotland women's national football team, Scotland, Netherlands women's national football team, Netherlands, Russia women's national football team, Russia and South Africa women's national football team, South Africa. Playing career As a child, Pauw played football with her two brothers Street football, on the streets. When she was 13 years old SV Bredorodes started a women's team which Pauw joined, and at the age of 18 she moved to VSV Vreeswijk to play at a higher level. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Ter Leede
Ter Leede is a football club based in Sassenheim, Netherlands. The club was established on 30 April 1930, as a merger of the clubs ''Poellaan'' and ''Roda''. The men's team is currently playing in the Dutch Hoofdklasse, after being relegated from the Topklasse in 2013–14. The women's team is playing in the women's Hoofdklasse, until the introduction of the Eredivisie for women's football in 2007 the highest level of women's football in the country. The women's team has won the national title four times and the KNVB Cup for women three times. In 2001–02, Ter Leede was the first Dutch team in the UEFA Women's Cup. The team finished in second place of Group 2, behind Ryazan WFC of Russia. UEFA Women's Euro 2009
The 2009 UEFA Women's Championship, or just Women's Euro 2009, was played in Finland between 23 August and 10 September 2009. The host was appointed on 11 July 2006, in a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Berlin and the Finnish proposal won over the Dutch proposal. The UEFA Women's Championship is a regular tournament involving European national teams from countries affiliated to UEFA, the European governing body, who have qualified for the competition. The competition aims to determine which national women's team is the best in Europe. The 2009 tournament was won by Germany for a seventh time in ten events. They beat England, appearing in their first final since 1984, 6–2 in the final. The Germans also boasted the tournament's leading goalscorer in Inka Grings. FC Utrecht (women)
FC Utrecht Vrouwen was the women's football section of Dutch club FC Utrecht based in Utrecht. Established in 2007, as one of the founding members of the professional Dutch women's football league the team competed in the league from its inaugural season (2007–08) until 2011–12 and the BeNe League (Belgian and Dutch combined league) from 2012–13 until the team's dissolution in January 2014. SC Heerenveen Vrouwen is a Dutch women's football (soccer) club based in Heerenveen representing SC Heerenveen in the Vrouwen Eredivisie, the top women's league in the Netherlands. Founded in 2007, Heerenveen was a founding member of the Vrouwen Eredivisie. After finishing last in 2008 and 2010 and second-to-last in 2009, in 2011 it attained its best result yet, finishing 4th and reaching the national cup final, lost against AZ Alkmaar. In April 2011 the club announced the women's team would be disbanded following the end of the season, but it subsequently cancelled the decision. De Grolsch Veste (, en, The Grolsch Fortress, previously known as ''Arke Stadion'' ) is the stadium of football club FC Twente. It is located in Enschede, Netherlands, at the Business & Science Park, near the University of Twente. The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 30,205 with a standard pitch heating system and has a promenade instead of fences around the stands. It hosted the final of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017. History De Grolsch Veste replaced the old Diekman Stadion as FC Twente's home ground on 22 March 1998. Plans had been afoot to expand and to renovate the old and now demolished Diekman Stadion. However, with a growing fan capacity and with arguments that the location of the Diekman stadium was not strategic enough, the idea was conceived to build a new arena for the FC Twente fans. The Frauen-Bundesliga (German for ''Women's Federal League''), currently known as the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of league competition for women's association football in Germany. In 1990 the German Football Association (DFB) created the German Women's Bundesliga, based on the model of the men's Bundesliga. It was first played with north and south divisions, but in 1997 the groups were merged to form a uniform league. The league currently consists of twelve teams and the seasons usually last from late summer to the end of spring with a break in the winter. Despite the league's competitiveness, it has been semi-professional. VfL Wolfsburg has won the most championships. Belgian Women's First Division
The Belgian Women's First Division ( nl, Eerste Klasse, french: Première Division, ) is the second highest women's football league of Belgium. The league was the top level league until 2011–12. It was first played in 1973–74. From 2012 to 2013 to 2014–16 Belgium's best teams play in the joint league with the best Dutch teams in the BeNe League. The champion of the league qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League. In 2015/16 the top level Super League was established above the First Division. Format For the season 2014–15, 14 teams participate, playing a double round-robin schedule to decide the champion. The bottom team is relegated to the Belgian Women's Second Division, the 3rd level.
